Gay conservative tech billionaire says this:

“I don’t pretend to agree with every plank in our party’s platform. But fake culture wars only distract us from our economic decline," he said. "When I was a kid, the great debate was about how to defeat the Soviet Union. And we won. Now we are told that the great debate is about who gets to use which bathroom. This is a distraction from our real problems. Who cares?"

You could practically feel the OUTRAGE! and OFFENSE! sweeping across left wing America last night.

To bad he was speaking at the Villages Bingo Night.

Obligatory: I'm not a liberal.

However, Thiel is a douchebag of monumental proportions. His quote above is nothing more than a straw man and massively lame attempt to "rally the troops". The "great debate" these days has zero to do with transgender bathroom usage. Anyone that believes that is mainlining the proverbial Kool Aid. Can't we have more than one debate going on simultaneously? Can't we have simultaneous debates regarding domestic and foreign policies that are mutually exclusive? Should we not have focused on the Civil Rights Movement because of Vietnam and the Cold War?

I'd be willing to bet everything I own that the major issue with voters this cycle is terrorism, both domestic and foreign; however, that does not mean that we should take our eye off of economic, social or other issues at home. Oh, and Thiel is a douchebag.

But it IS the only thing that many, many people talk about. Just talk to random late 20 something's and they'll present you with a laundry lsit of things to be offended by, but have absolutely nothing to offer, or no knowledge, of any matter related to economics, tax reform, foreign policy. They also frankly don't give a shit about being an American. It's not cool to be proud anymore.

I say this as someone IN that age group.

Just remember this for this coming week when buffoons like Lena Dunham get up at the DNC and fire off 30 things that the left finds offensive and want a culture war on. Just last week she accused her college of "culturally appropriating" Asian culture, and being racists, because they offer sushi at the student meal plan café. Yes- really.
