I had one for 13 years. She got bladder cancer and we had to put her down a week after my second daughter was born. Same day UCF lost to South Carolina in 2013.
She was an amazing dog. Always gentle with children. She was super patient with my first born. Always happy to meet new people with the waggiest tail on earth.
When I first got married she ate my wife’s wedding bouquet. Years later my wife told me that she thought about making me choose between her or my dog. That would have been a short marriage. My wife also tried to make her sleep on the floor, which didn’t work.
She would occasionally have some animal aggression. She tried to attack an opossum once and sometimes small dogs annoyed her, but that was my fault for not socializing.
So yeah, good experience. They are smart, loyal and usually very friendly.
