Country music isn't in my primary listening habits, but like rock, I like more of it than I don't. However, I'm not gonna go out of my way to find it.

I thought you were black.

Like all music, there are good years and bad years. The past few years country music has been mostly terrible, whiny, cry baby shit.

It isn't all about that Bass terrible which to be honest, I am disappointed in country music that they didn't remake that song with the fish pronunciation of bass.

There is a lot of Alt Country that is great. I'm going to see Old Crow Medicine Show at House of Blues in May and they are absolutely fantastic. You won't hear their songs on the radio, typically, but I would take them and many others over the stuff on mainstream country stations today. Other good Alt Country/Bluegrass acts are Justin Townes Earle, Trampled by Turtles, Hackensaw Boys, and more famously, the Avett Bros.

Outlaw Country on Sirius is one of my faves. All this and lots of Americana.

Agree with Rogerz, mid 90's to late 2000's had some good stuff. Current lot is terrible.

That's so two years ago. Taylor Swift is pop now.

I mostly listen to country. It's gotten better lately with what I'll call "rockish" country. Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Colt Ford, etc.

As much as I'd like to take Taylor Swift behind the shed, I was kidding about her. But I do like all of the artists you mentioned.

No shed needed for Taylor Swift. Wouldn't want to hide that...

But having her next hit called "Rogerz is a Two Pump Chump" would suck.

I never said I'd want to ever ever ever get back together.

Like ever. I'd just shake it off.

If you get to shake it off with Taylor, then I get to with Billy Currington.

Admit that if given a choice between Taylor and Jake Owen you would choose the latter.

Oh, man. I read that as "Billy Corgan" at first and threw up a little in my mouth.

New stuff is garbage. Luke Bryan should be offered to ISIS as a sacrifice or something.

The retro "I love the 90s" stuff is terrible too. Joe Diffie isn't dead and I wish him a long life of retirement in Oklahoma. But please get him off my radio Blake Shelton, you are pushing your Okie credentials with that crap. Garth is back huckstering his cheesy crap too. One album, son, one album. That's all you had and then jumped the shark. Get your drivel about James Taylor and Queen off my TV and back in Vegas where it belongs.

Give me the Georges. Strait and Jones. They will never get old. George Jones whiskey drunk beating the crap out of Tammy Wynette with the butt of shotgun while crooning Golden Ring is far better than anything Cole Swindell will record between his busy schedule of hair appointments, stylists, publicists, and his dental implant specialist.

H8 more than love.

Lot of its boring sounding music + shit tier writing.

A lot of the songs take longer to perform than write.

Think a database could spit out virtually 80% of the songs/"artists"

For every Zac Brown or Hootie there's 50 douche guys/groups/girls.

You've basically intimated the same sentiments every fan of country music has said about the previous generation of country music. You know, the same people who said George Jones and George Strait weren't nearly as good as Hank Williams. And then those who said Hank wasn't nearly as good as Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. And then those who said Bob Wills wasn't nearly as good as Jimmie Rodgers (you get the point).

As good as Strait was in his career, he too put out chessy crap. They all do.

Not really "Alt. Country" but Bluegrass Rock. I love those all except Earle.
Will see OCMS in St Augie in may. Avett at Red Rocks in Denver this summer as well as Trampled By Turtles.

The technical way to define them is Alt. Country though regardless of the genres in which they play or sound.

Who remembers the Kentucky Headhunters? I thought they were great.

Fairly straight forward southern rock/country music.

I don't think they ever got big since they looked like such backwoods hicks.

Brah, there's no way you actually care about this. Why try and ingratiate yourself to these white devils?

Ps. New Chris Stapleton album Traveller is just incredible. If this is what country is supposed to be then sign me up.

I like it, a little too slow to drink too though unless it is just you and a woman you're trying to get drunk and smash.
