We are not the Yankees. Get the names on the jerseys. Players would absolutely love it. Poll them and it will be like 98% for adding the names.
Player names, alternate unis and helmets, real blackouts. Give the fans something to look forward to during the transition process.
Let's leave this to the real coach who starts in December. This would just be a slap in the face of O'Leary. No ?
I'm sure the players would like it but I'd bet they have a long list of other things they'd want first. Honestly I'll never understand why so many on this board are so concerned with our uniforms.
You just don't get it. It's a way for the average fan to connect with the players.
It's a way to get more involved in the game. Find new favorite players.
Gives the players a sense of pride and recognition for all their hard work.
Congrats if you already know every player on the team, but the average fan doesn't without names on the back.
I get it. I'm sure there's lots of things that'd be nice. But jerseys don't win football games. We'll get to the jerseys after the real stuff that actually matters is addressed.
The worst aspect of the no names is that it ends up more greatly affecting the players whose names are less likely to be known in the first place. What I mean is, everyone will know the QB's name regardless of their jersey, we'll know the starting RB and top few receivers, but that's because they're in visible positions and their names are announced all the time. Same with ML or OLB on defense.
But those players on the offensive line? No one will know their names. The inside DL? Same thing. It does nothing to address the players at positions who are most likely the need a lack of name on their jersey and instead just makes those players who are already overlooked by most fans even less visible.

Theres a bunch of teams with winning records that dont have the names on the back of the jerseys. I could care less personally, but from the time GOL retires, can they get names on the back of the jerseys in 6 days?
They should have placed the names on the jerseys the day after he retired. Another UCF fail....
No names on jerseys and remaining with the status quo for unis for the rest of this season okay for this year because I hope to see new, bold colors unis and field paint next year as we bury the pale yellow and white unis forever as representatives of UCF. Get rid of pale yellow, off white, khaki, etc. that has been made available as representative UCF colors on available apparel and other UCF stuff. Give us something that's fun and exciting!! Let's have a bonfire for a burning of the current unis!

When you force your head coach to retire because you're 0-8 I'd say that winning is the top priority.
Are you suggesting we should have givin GOL a bonus, and the team members "participation trophies" for an 0-8 start? My retort is a quote from the former Jets coach Herman Edwards; " you play to win the game." Of course there are other considerations, but number 1 in a competitive sport is winning the game.
Of course not. I think you're missing the point of the thread. My comments are specifically about how so many seem to think that putting names on the backs of the jerseys are important. My point specifically is that when you force a coach to resign after an 0-8 it's because the priority is winning. I sincerely hope that the folks responsible for the UCF football team are more focused on winning than what's on the jerseys. Let's worry about the jerseys after the season.
