Pope Francis said Sunday that Christians owe apologies to gays and others who have been offended or exploited by the church, remarks that some Catholics hailed as a breakthrough in the church's tone toward homosexuality.
"I repeat what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says: that they must not be discriminated against, that they must be respected and accompanied pastorally," Francis said at a press conference aboard the papal plane returning from Armenia.

"Francis has not changed church doctrine that calls homosexual acts sinful, but he has shown a more merciful approach to people on the margins, including gays and lesbians."

There's a difference between man judging man, and leaving such judgement to God. Even the often-quoted Romans Chapter 1 lists all sorts of sexual acts as sinful, including many straight ones.

Reality? The Bible was written during a time when you couldn't teach people about bacteria, and promoted healthy living with reduced, health-related issues. Anal sex is one of those that has added complications, just like most of the other sins listed.

It wasn't this Pope, was it?
