Any updates on Demarco Artis and/or Antwan Owens on whether they have decided to defect to FSU and USF, respectively? I see lots of Nole stuff on Artis' twitter lately.
I think DeMarco Artis removed all of his UCF posts from his twitter. All good though, a players word means nothing now a days and is just a way to get looks from bigger schools. Need to wait for that ink to dry before getting excited about our recruiting class unfortunately.
I actually feel the opposite. Owens is a 285 lb stud and is a rare find as a DE coming out of HS. Artis actually is not much better than Mitchell or Bacote who arrive this year and will transition to LB instead of their HS DE positions. They are both graded the same as Artis and appear much stronger. Artis looks like he is allergic to the weightroom...getting by on talent (quickness) alone so far, which doesn't translate well when going to the next level. Hope he has a nice seat cushion.Owens is fine to leave, we just signed to 6'6" 255lb studs. Artis was a hidden gem but FSU found him.
You are totally right Poolside. I failed to take the high road in my comments and I apologize to the Board for that. I also agree that Frost and staff are doing a great job in identifying and securing the talent that we need going forward. Actually, I wish Artis and all recruits, especially those from Central Florida, nothing but success on and off the field, no matter where they attend. I guess my bias toward UCF showed through in my earlier comments. Not a fan of trashing a prospect right when it looks like he may decommit
FSU being after Artis this early in the Recruiting Cycle is just proof that Frost is recruiting high level talent. There will be losses/gains all the way to Signing Day but I love this staff's grind on the Recruiting Trail.
"Playing time for 3-4 years is underrated. That's how you make it to the NFL."He is 3 star now, but since FSU offered watch him mysteriously move to a 4 star.
Gators will probably offer him as well. I read that he decommitted from Kentucky in the spring. So, its a game the kids play, and the schools. The lure of playing for FSU though is pretty strong. The kid must be stoked on the offers. I hope he stays with UCF. He would get immediate playing time no doubt.
Well, Artis just flipped to FSU

He was born to be a Florida State linebacker.
He’s an also-ran when he enters in Tallahassee.
And the 4 linebacker scheme means one more opening in the lineup. He is 3 star now, but since FSU offered watch him mysteriously move to a 4 star.

He write a nice note to us. I wish him luck!
That isn't correct. We aren't all about 4 and 5 Star players. Jimbo Fisher actually doesn't give a flip about the Star Ratings. He goes after 5 Star Players. He goes after 4 Star Players. He goes after 3 Star Players. He even occasionally goes after 2 Star Players or even No Star Players. He basically does his own evaluation and if that happens to jive with what Rivals thinks of a player then so be it. If it doesn't line up with how Rivals rates a player then so be it. He doesn't care. He evaluates the tape and how the player performs when they come to his camp and if they perform he offers them no matter how many Stars they have.Unfortunately college football is a business so I don't hold a grudge. Only thing that stinks is he goes from being a star in our class vs the fans thinking they are wasting a scholarship at FSU. Hopefully he can prove them wrong.
Jimbo cares about stars. He is always getting stud 5 star athletes but is showing that he isn't very good at developing them. The team is good because it's loaded with great recruits but unlike GOL, they progress because of competition not coaching. That isn't correct. We aren't all about 4 and 5 Star players. Perfect example: Devonta Freeman. He had Zero stars and hardly any other offers when FSU offered him in Summer 2011. Freeman committed to us on the spot and by the time his Senior year of high school finished he was a Four Star Player. Currently he is the starting Running Back for the Atlanta Falcons.
Demarco Artis can play. I don't care that he is a 3 Star. He is good. He can play the run, rush the passer and cover in space. He is the real deal and I predict he plays a lot of Football on the field for FSU in the coming years.
How do you figure Fisher isn't good at developing players? Have you taken a look at the past four NFL Drafts?Jimbo cares about stars. If underachieving is having a 49-6 record and winning a National Championship over the last four years from 2012-2015, I'll take underachieving any day of the week and twice on Sunday.Yes, a lot of 4,5 star talent underachieving against inferior competition but eventually overcoming them with depth.

For the record, in the last four years we've lost two games to what I would call inferior competition. We lost to NC State on the road in 2012, and we lost to Georgia Tech on the road in 2015. But even those teams have talent and anybody can beat anybody on any given day.
I wouldn't call losing to Houston losing to inferior competition. Houston is good and could compete in any of the Power 5 Conferences.
