In last night's radio show Gus mentioned again trying to protect Mikey and Thomas's redshirts.

TC already played in 4 games. Mikey in two.

Only two more regular games left with possible Conference Champ game and bowl game.

Will be interesting if JRP goes down and Mikey has to go in.

I guess the discussion is...which redshirt does he burn if Mikey goes over two games?

Mikey plays in 2 more and then won’t anymore. It will be TC or Will Bohn time.

I ppsted about thks earlier if its Navy or USF Bowser may play QB.

I am assuming we are up big and resting JRP. Like we did for Cincinnati and Memphis. Bowser direct snaps

If CCG or Cotton bowl I now assume its do or die time. I think Keene returns as TC has played 4 already.

Wild card play; we do have other QBs to take relief snaps. Harvey is also a QB.

Another thing to think about, if we are blowing out Navy or usf, which are distinct possibilities...then, do you insert Mikey and use up one of the games he is eligible for or continue to play JRP (and, chance he gets hurt). Knock on wood. Hope the coaches make the right decision. Me, I think you gotta burn one of the red shirts by the end of the year.

We save both and run the wild Bowser all game. Should probably win both games still

No we don't put in Mikey at all costs bc we need him for CCG and Cotton Bowl. We put in whoever the 4th string QB is

Could Timmy get in?

So we'd be saving Mikey's RS as like, a favor to him yes? I have to believe he'll be in the portal the moment our season is done. With TC already here and Rizk (both Gus types) inbound too I don't think Mikey really gets his shot with Gus barring someone else getting injured. IDK, I may have missed some news too.

Hope JP makes it through the Navy game. If he does, Gus could always tell him not to run against usf, who we could beat with me under center (and we could do worse). Other options include O'Keefe (HS QB right?) and, well I'll say it anyway....Joey Gatewood...bet he throws better than Bowser.

Mikey is most likely gone after this season. I have to admit, his improvement from last year to this year was huge. i think we saw glimpses of it against Florida, but what he did against Cincy and Memphis was unreal compared to what we saw last year. I think TC and the new kid are probably a better fit for what Gus wants to do overall, but Mikey will find a home real quick with what he put on tape this year. I hope we don't have to burn his redshirt as a favor to him, but if we need him, I don't think he would mind. He still has 2 years left no matter what, and he could redshirt wherever he goes and have a year to learn the system where he goes. If he leaves, I truly wish him all the best and I will be rooting for him, unless he goes to USF!!!!!

Let me chine in. I have read the entire thread. You guys aren't considering the most important factor.

Football is all about matchups.

MK matches up better against Navy than JRP ot TC. Navy ranks No. 6th nationally in rushing defense, surrendering only 85 yards per game. However, it ranks 116th nationally in passing yards allowed.

MK would have a 300+-yard game as the starter.

The safe best if JRP starts and plays the whole game, take Navy and the points and play the under.

If they are that bad on pass defense, then JP lights them up too...Tulane was supposed to have a great run defense too, what happened there?

We need to get out of the next 2 games without JP getting hurt.

Houston ran for 180 on them. Tune had 43 yards. SMU QB Mordacai had 74 on them. Air Force QB 65 and 200 as a team. But they got torched through air. Don’t need to run when they can’t stop pass often.

Gus also mentioned that they are saving his redshirt after the cincy game press conference. They def had a gentleman’s agreement in the beginning of the season. I can see him going to a good school and starting.

All of this is nonsense. Mikey should be starting, period. I cannot believe we have a QB on the team that can have a stellar season, that is waiting for a portal transfer. What ?
