Joseph Puopolo has played a valuable role within UCF's offense the past couple years though he's never carried the ball or caught a pass.

That's the life of a fullback, who typically paves the way so others can reap the glory.

The 5-foot-10, 242-pounder has been described by George O'Leary as a "wrecking ball" because his lower center of gravity makes him difficult to shed on a block. It also doesn't hurt that he's the strongest player on the team.

Puopolo was a standout two-way lineman at Barron Collier High School in Naples who had opportunities to play at a lower level, but wanted to prove he could play major college football. That led to enrollment at UCF where he later earned a spot on the team at a walk-on tryout.

UCFSports.com caught up with the redshirt senior earlier this week to talk about his journey.
