According to Mario Verduczo interviewed today.

Definitely doesn't sound like Milton is a lock to redshirt this year at this point. Obviously, it's all up to Frost,
but I would bet he plays this year.

Jeff Godfrey was a fabulous freshman for us, but I shudder each time I see that crushing hit he took by a 285 pound defender. Milton is even smaller and lighter. And Godfrey had the benefits of spring practice and summer weight training. I know it's "part of the game" but with so many upperclassmen at the QB position, I hope they don't rush him along too fast.

I've been listening to Sirius/XM College radio station. They have been interviewing coaches all across the spectrum. I haven't heard a single coach at this time say they have a starter QB. We all know Justin Holman will start game one. But, of course coachspeak, they want competition at the position. Give people hope and force them to study the offensive schemes. Carry on...

He's just trying to light a fire under Holman's ass, that's all. When he was healthy in 2014, he was very good. Let's hope for a return to form this season.

Point taken.. although I think Milton is a legit 5'11'' while Godfrey wasn't (pretty sure anyway). He is also listed at 170 lbs. Better get him in that weight room! Between Holman and Patti.. I'm hoping we don't have to burn that redshirt..

Milton is going to run this offense like the Houston QB Ward who is very athletic and has been hampered from time to time because of his size (Note: ankle injury last season).

If upperclassmen don't perform it's going to be hard to keep Milton on the bench. It's really up to them. If they run the offense well, the freshmen stays on the bench for now.

I'm excited to see him play but know giving him time to get acclimated to college life and football would be best for him. I do question whether or not we should red shirt him for the whole season. Some college experience before entering next season as the starter would be good for both him and UCF. Frost will most likely get better QB recruits in here over time (bigger bodied and faster) so why save him for 4 full years as a starter?

I agree with this completely. Many top programs which we are striving to be, can get several quality QB recruits over a four year period. We are already going after that guy from Nebraska.

Milton wasn't even that highly recruited and he's 5'11", although he's a great for for Frost's system.

Play Milton if he's ready and able, because we could have 3-4 QBs who are as good or better by the time he's a senior.

If we aren't consistent in first 4 or 5 games I would make the move. Next year we have Vedral and Washington coming in to compete. Look toward the future if thus year isn't going to be good anyway.

Milton will be 5th on the depth chart and running the scout team.

It's all speculation at this point. The coaches have their inclinations, but it mostly depends on how game situations constrain their options.

Just glad we shouldn't see this kind of QBing...

It never fooled anybody!
In case anyone was wondering, Brent Key's star is finally back in its ascendency:
He is currently the offensive line coach at the University of Alabama. Hired at Alabama on February 15, 2016.
