QB Tyler Harris eager to fit UCF football fast new offense

Harris is just too slow to run this offense.
Just watch any Oregon highlight over the past several years. The chances of him starting are slim and none. If I was him, I would have transferred.
I think Patti may surprise but I don't want every QB transferring bc on paper he's not a perfect fit. He may surprise us all or be needed in an injury situation which can be more likely with an offense that encourages the QB to run

That may be true, but we have quite a few QBs who can run and he may have to do what's best for HIS career if that's what's important to him. Doubt at this point in his career that he's going to be outrunning anyone all of a sudden.

Holman is 6'5" so he doesn't have to be fast just have good technique and long strides.

He's fast enough.
No issue.
Harris would be fine as well. Neither is optimal of course as they want someone as quick as possible but most time I'd be in favor of a middle ground speed guy IF they have been schooled in actually making reads. Problem with a lot of speed QB guys is they rely on running. Make one read and take off. Hard to teach that out of them.

I was thinking the same thing. Unless Harris has the accuracy of Brady or Payton.....he's not a FROST QB. Jeff Godfrey had speed. He was a bit short.

Got a senior QB at Merritt Island next year that just broke the school's 40 record. Ran a 4.3 and also won district in hurdles. Smart kid with his eyes set on the Ivy League, but he would be a perfect fit for this "FAST" offense.

I coached him when he played Pop Warner so I take all the credit....

Looks like we've only offered 4-5 star QBs who we have no chance at getting.

Don't think they do. Cocoa actually has another kid, a senior QB named Bradley Canarie that is transferring from Astronaut and he played his sophomore/ freshman seasons and all his youth football on Merritt Island. Makes me think Cocoa is going to use Bruce Judson more as a RB/receiver threat. That is what he is being recruited as.

Merritt Island-Cocaa should be mandated by state legislature!!

Batch is really good. Would be a perfect fit for Frost's offense!

I don't believe we will see a shortage of QB recruits from here on out. I expect at least one QB being capable of running Frost's offense coming on-board every season here on out. I see this first year as an anomaly with the 2 QBs that Frost recruited (includes coach K's son) getting extra attention because they are the future. Once we get a starter, there will be even better QBs coming to UCF because they will love the offense.

All others QBs are transitional and backups. Even Holman couldn't complete drives in this system which he was never good at. He would make a few big plays to score but never was consistent with moving the chains. This is unfortunate because he is gifted but doesn't have the "it" factor to carry the offense.

Agree 1000%, he never was consistent at moving the chains.

Agreed. Holman seems like a good guy but he just doesn't have the it factor regardless of the system. He at times looks like a promising talent in between the 20s but then makes the timely turnover. It will be interesting to see what direction Frost goes at QB. You could be right that this season could be a combination of Patti, Kruz, then Hawaii QB the 2nd half of the year if Holman doesn't hold on to the #1 spot on the depth chart.

Anyone notice how our OS beat writer is the biggest Holman homer out there?

Funny that you mention the OS beat writer. Knightline Podcast crew thought that she was watching a different spring game than the rest of us. I agree with your Holman assessment.

Not sure if she's a homer or it's just a case of not knowing football and can't evaluate football talent and what is needed to run this offense. Holman had "fools gold" numbers, but that's not what it's all about. She was fooled. Touting him strictly on his numbers.
Half of the posters on this board have deeper insight than she does. It's really sad. She's like my sister evaluating UCF football and she's a nurse.

Hawaii guy is going to redshirt. No need to burn a year on next seasons team. Prepare for the future.

She did it all last season as well during the games he played, excuse after excuse.

A conversation about Tyler Harris went to a broader conversation about quarterbacks to a conversation about a beat writer. #MessageBoards
