I'm sad to report that Richard "Dick" Pace has passed away. He was a familiar site at UCF sporting events since the 1980s, particularly at baseball games. He would occasionally visit football practice as well, sitting in a golf cart near the gate.
The University of Florida was his first love, I believe he lettered in three sports there. He had a long career as an SEC basketball official and later as a FHSAA official. He founded the Pace Insurance Company in Maitland.
Always told great stories - he had a lot of them to share. Thanks to @Prince of Knights for letting me know of his passing.
Here's a bio from his induction in the FHSAA Hall of Fame. I haven't found an obituary yet.
