decisive win could get us in top 25 when we play an ACC opponent..

or we stay on the outside barely and will need to beat them to break in.

Coastal Carolina beats The Citadel and moves up 5 spots and are the 2nd highest ranked team in the G5. They getting a lot of love for beating a high school team. Just think if UCF beats Cinci, coastal Carolina will be top ranked team. I haven't watched them but are they really that good?

The Citadel is THE ONLY game duh*bulls won last year. That is how bad The Citadel is. Coastal Carolina put 52 points on them. Move up 5 spots? eh? What gives. Coastal lost to Liberty in last year's bowl game. Why they ranked in the top 25?

As the weeks go on we should close the gap on them. If we keep winning and so do they; the infamous SOS argument will come.

we could also be ranked where we are as an anti-UCF sentiment. “Anyone but those guys” mindset. Haha

I don’t think that’s it though. We keep winning we will be the top G5. We beat a top 10 Cincy we skyrocket.

I'm ok being just outside the top 25. Just don't understand Coastal Car being ahead of us. But, whatever. You are right SOS and plus the CFP poll doesn't come out until a few more weeks and they usually don't rely on AP and Coach poll. But, just mysterious on why a school with no name recognition is so high. I see they beat Kansas last year and play again this weekend. Kansas...their only win against a P5. hmmm...just don't see it. I'll try to watch one of their games to see what I'm missing.

They gave BYU their only loss last season, and I imagine they returned just about everybody on their team. If they lose a game they will be knocked completely out, but wouldn't be surprised if they win out.

UCF still has to figure how to beat Cincinnati. Cincinnati has everything rolling right now full of veteran leaders all over that team, UCF still has to figure things out. Play a first half like they did against Boise State, and it won't be close.

Well they might drop a game at some point, matchup predictor actually gives Buffalo a 55% chance of winning on 9/18. After that they have to play App State in October.

Watched a bit of Coastal Carolina game believe the announcers said they returned the whole oline from last year.

So, I haven't watched Coastal Carolina yet. Since you have you think they can beat UCF? UCF returned the entire Oline from last year also.

We lost to top ranked BYU. Coastal Carolina lost to Liberty. They beat The Citadel. Shouldn't they have to reprove themselves? They are sitting at #17 in the AP poll. I must be too biased to see that they are better than UCF. But, whatever. A lot of football ahead of us.

Anyone have access to ESPN+? I'm wondering where Boise St and UCF were ranked preseason and where we stand now.

I think Boise was around 39 preseason but couldn't find where we were.

Thanks!

The top 25 preseason rankings are the gift that keeps giving. Imagine if UCF just barely beat a bad team how far we would fall. It would be hard if not impossible to climb into the top 10 by the end of the season. Oklahoma squeaks by unranked Tulane and drops from 2 to 3. If we lost to Tulane we would drop at least 5 spots.

USF at 116 one spot ahead of Vandy another top academic school. They are racking up moral victories. If this was organized amateur spots they would get a trophy for every moral victory ✌

Top 25, nice! Thanks for posting! I predicted this next game to be a loss before the season, so hope I'm wrong! Louisville coming in at 62 with average offense and defense ratings. Our guys better treat them like a top 15 team though cause Friday night games on the road in the P5 are no joke obviously.

Let's go!!!

Well Tulane does have 3 SEC championships*

Man, that was a rough one. I just had a bad feeling about it being a Friday night and how they were gonna want revenge for last time we played them up there. But to add the DG injury on top of the loss, major gut punch. I'm thinking we fall back to the mid 30s after this L.

No votes, worse than 40.

ESPN FPI - 61
Sagarin - 70
Colley Matrix - 100

Strength of Schedule is really bad. Combined 6-13 for opponents.
I'm wondering about the SP+ rankings ESPN makes you pay for. I think Bill Connelly's are usually pretty accurate.

Any ranking through 4-5 games are moot. They don’t matter. Need 7-8 games to start better assessing teams. They are all opinion polls at this point.
