Speedt absolutely did not help himself out there today.

4.7 unofficial on the 40 is pitiful.

A ton of drops on drills. Poor showing.

I had 4.7 on the Brain. My bad.

That said his official time may be more likely to be a 4.65.

His gauntlet drill was fugly. Worst one out there and I mean horrible.
Key drops, terrible body positioning, wrenching for the ball. Aweful.

Speedy isnt speedy..and Perriman must have some idsues if he's sitting this out...not a good day.

Wow., this guy ran over and by Baylor DBs and has been one of the top kick returners in he nation. Totally improved himself as a receiver through hard work. An overachiever type to say the least. I wish him the best.

Our new crop of incoming freshmen receivers are a whole different animal. Lots of natural talent and athleticism. They could be the real deal.

He just paid his performance coach in Cali stacks of cash
to get down to a 4.38. That was his target speed to get drafted.

That said he injured his hammy at senior bowl I just read.....eek.

I suck at links but this url has the story of his pre combine training.

That hammy has been bothering him since the season when he sat out a few games. Four years of game film and a blowout senior bowl versus one crappy day when the nerves got the best of him won't matter in the long run.

Man he is BUFF and cut.

It's the difference of being drafted vs being a practice squad guy.
It's not like he's Amari Cooper....and I mean that with all respect.

I wish him the best. He looks amazing. It's tough to have that happen after all that work.

On the business side I would imagine he had to take out a loan or
have his agent front him cash to pay for the coaching so I am hoping
he still gets drafted 5-7th round.

His career isn't dead because of 1 day. He gets a second change at UCF pro days, where the crowd that comes to see Perriman et. al. will get a chance to see him. Not an expert, but I watched last year because of Bortles and heard of several who had lackluster combines, or ones who refused to do anything, that improved on their pro day. So, who knows maybe he'll fight his way back into the late rounds.

most people do better at Pro Days than at combine...Pro Days are scripted and the athletes are in familiar grounds...4.6 is horrible for a WR and returner...the injury bug will hurt his chances as well...doesnt matter how buff and cut he is when he's slower than 80% of the other WR.

Definately lost a couple steps after his sophomore year, pulling a stinker at the combine can't be made up on a pro day for guys who were probably undraftable anyway. Think JJ always had a better shot at the pros.

While his 40 wasn't great his explosiveness in the Vertical Leap (41", currently tied for 7th) and Broad Jump (132", currently tied for 2nd) were both very good.

Yes. Pro days are highly scripted. Hall has the benefit of scouts coming down
to see Perriman....that said you never want to make scouts do extra work
particulary as a non lock for a draft.

Also ranked 13th in 20 yard shuttle, and tied for 6th in 3 cone drill. Not too shabby. GOL reputation with the NFL and the program's reputation will help too. Coaches like Belichick always seem to give UCF almuns a chance (Pat Brown, Asante, Chris Martin, Kamar, etc.)

4.6 40 yard dash doesn't look great, but his shuttle and 3 cone drills were great, his bench press was good, and his jumping was off the charts. I thought he was a 6-7 round guy originally. I don't think the 40 time will change that too much.

Yeah but watch what he does when the ball is in his hands. Dude is a playmaker not a burner. He's got good speed but amazing quickness. He seemed to lose a little toughness and confidence as he came off injuries, I hope that he can find that toughness again.
