After reading all the during and post-game reaction, I can feel everyone's pain/frustration as well as ppl expressing hope. There are some posters looking at the positives today of the run game, run D, sacks, etc; Then there are the people saying how we got annihilated, the special teams were awful, QB play bad, etc.

All legitimate points.

But I think it all the emotions from our fan base comes down to expectations. It all started with 2010- the first time we tasted some real success- a 10 win season, and a bowl win over a major program (UGA). Then after one poor season, we saw 3 straight extremely successful seasons full of tons of program firsts- Beating top 10 ranked teams, being ranked in the top 10, a 12-win season, back-to-back conference titles. Then the crowning achievement of winning the Fiesta Bowl- the moment that legitimized the UCF Football Program. For the first time, we didn't feel like the little guy- you could mention that your a fan of the UCF program to someone from outside of Orlando with pride and know that you could say "UCF" without having to say the school in Orlando - we were legitimately known for a football accomplishment.

So when, the 2015 season happened, our feel good around the program got rippe away. We took a step back as a program and that hurt. Just when we finally felt we were in big boy territory, on the verge of being a consistent player in big boy action (relatively speaking- not referring to national championships, but major bowls), we go back to how we felt prior to this era. The 2012-2014 era- we got used to that winning. So now that its gone you can see our fans having all this dissent and going back and forth on where we are as a program.

I feel that its all about expectations. We can realize we took a step back, but that doesnt take away from our past accomplishments and legitimacy. We are temporary irrelevant, but I think the growth of this program shows now that we actually have these expectations and expect to be relevant.

But, the difference between last year's season compared to other bad seasons is we will be back and we will be relevant again. We have a talented young coach, a dedicated new AD and our making so many positive changes with the program across the board.

Regardless if we only win 4-5 games this year, it won't stop our return to relevancy. The recruits will come and we will improve.

Just keep perspective before you bash the talent or the play in a game against the No. 5 team in the country. Today is not the measuring stick for the season, but especially for the future. When you are looking at today's loss and see how far away we looked from Power 5 football, also think about how recently we were playing with the big boys (2013) and know the dedication is their from the program to get back to that. Trust the process and vision- I think the long term is the most promising it has ever been, where we can feel that relevancy again but on a consistent basis this time. It jus might take a year or two. Charge On.

I couldn't agree more. Yes we got waxed. Yes we gave up a lot of points. But this wasn't Tulane, Tulsa or UConn- no disrespect to those schools, this was Michigan. They are ranked #5 for a reason. I said before the season started there are going to be times when we cringe at what we see. But in the beginning, especially against quality competition, you will see glimpses and flashes of what this offense is going to look like when we get it rolling. I would expect us to play a little better next week. I'm not saying we will beat Maryland, but I think this team is going to get a little better each week. Honestly, as a former GOLhugger, there is no way we go to Michigan last year and keep it this close. We probably would have been shut out. I didn't see the game, but I kept up on the web, it seemed like we were moving the ball. I didn't think we were going to win this game, so I am not to awful disappointed in the outcome. SCSU had a lot of open receivers last week. Hopefully, the secondary can get better over the next couple of weeks before we enter conference play.

The only important takeaway is that UCF belongs on the same field with them. We weren't sure before. Michigan's starters played nearly the entire game, and have the scars to prove it. Frost said we beat ourselves with weak execution and must also fix some holes in pass defense, the passing game, and, of course, special teams (which was our strongest area).

Regarding the passing game, Frost said clearly that the pass game didn't work because Michigan's new defensive coach from Boston College takes away all shorter passes and forces you to protect long enough to hit deeper receivers. And their strength is outstanding one-on-one defenders. But that defense lets the QB get yardage as well as some of your run plays. That's why most plays were runs. You can only take what the defense gives you. It wasn't at all like last week where Holman was missing wide open receivers.

We belonged on the same field? Did I do the math wrong? 51-14 = 37.

Should have thrown more screens then. They were effective to the WRs, but not at all accurate to the RBs. Where was Akins today? Did he play?
Also, why isn't Killins seeing the ball more?

Or leave someone in the box to block. I think the frost system relies on quick hits. There was a screen in the second half to a receiver with blockers in front, but the timing was off. Also, they got to the corners fast. That's why so much up the middle had the most success. I suppose a middle screen might have been worth a try.

All you had to see was them posting their starting lineup on the mini-tron (can't believe they have outdated video boards). Tons of 5th year seniors and seniors. One underclass man starting. We got manhandled in the trenches. Men versus boys. We played great run defense but couldn't stop anything through the air. We ran really well but couldn't almost complete a pass. Our special teams was Soecial Ed today. We got crushed by a very senior-laden, talented team. Houston is the only game left where we shoild get crushed. If Holman is hurt Patti can't be the solution. He's pretty useless in the passing game. We have a really bad need for QBs and Frost needs to bring in 2-3 in the next class. It was a fun experience and Ann Arbor is a really fun place to hang out. Let's see what we do next week before jumping off any cliffs.

Okay, let's compare our performance with Hawaii's the week before that every Michigan paper called a "better" team than UCF. Michigan last week had 7 possessions plus the first play interception Michigan's QB threw. Michigan scored 7 TDs on 7 possessions, never punted, never had to settle for a FG, and only had two longer 3rd downs the entire game. They ran up almost 3 times as much rushing as against us. We forced them to attempt punts 4 times (one was bobbled by the UM punter). They also settled for FGs twice. They went for it on fourth down 4 times (i.e., they were stopped on 3rd down), once from their own 39 in the middle of the 4th quarter. We shot ourselves by getting 4 kicks blocked plus two other fumbles. Finally, we know we did great or why would Harbaugh have kept his starters in with 6 minutes to go. Against Hawaii, he was playing everyone on his bench for half the game.

I was also shocked at how awful their video/scoreboard and stadium audio was. I went in with really high expectations after hearing so many amazing things about their stadium. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed.

There's a reason they call it the rust belt! When's the last time any of us bought an American car from the Detroit auto makers? BHS is real showplace. Imagine it after we expand to 63,000. All those Big 10 stadiums started out much smaller. They just added upward and completed the open sections.

This was a good experience for the players but NOT for the fans. I believe Michigan is a legit competitor for college championship team. Our players didn't give up like they did last season when under duress. The team will use this game as a measuring stick for climbing back up the mountain top again.

Reality is we don't have QB we need to win games like this and the team is still NOT ready to play all out Frost ball. However, I like the potential I see and the grit of the defense coming back. Big pass plays have to be cleaned up to win over half of our games this season on offense and defense.

Not just ignored. Brandon banned him once or twice.
Only once. Back in 2001 way back when he was using a pseudonym of Big Daddy. It was justified. I was critical of him in one post while he was trying his best to keep the UCF site going. It wasn't being very fair to him.

He was banned as Gatorknight and Masterknight.

The first time I emailed Brandon directly and the second time he was completely offensive.

The guy eventually loses it mentally and goes bizerk.

Nice try. I was never either of those folks. It's easy to tell my posts -- geezerish, pretentious, newsy, or boring.

Not taking anything away from the UCF effort. Did a nice job limiting the UM rush game.

That being said...UM was without 2 of their best DLineman. Started a guy (Winovich) who is a distant 2nd stringer. UM also didn't play their all American corner (Lewis).

UM could have put up 60 pts. They left some starters out there because their lb'er depth is pretty thin. UCF is much better than Hawaii and in a few years UCF is going to making some noise but this game wasn't really that close.

Injuries are part of the game. We did hold back or kept out guys on offense, lost our QB and arguably top LB. Otherwise, it could have been closer. Also, our special teams never plays that bad. It could have been under 20. Killins had one carry. He could have rushed for 200 on you guys.

Come on dude. Thanks for the encouraging words, but really???

Would ofs, Could haves, Should ofs

Aren't you guys past that talk????

Are you upset, because at 44-14 and we had the ball (an 0-12 team last year on the road), that because it wasn't a route and we just scored that you didn't look like a playoff team and are insecure about that???

Without the special teams blunders, this game is much closer. Even Harbaugh said that nothing was done special. Your pass defense is better than SC State, but your run defense isn't as good. They are an FCS school.

Speaking of special teams - the Michigan kicker had a fantastic game in difficult weather. The kickoffs didn't give us any shot at a decent return and he drilled all three FGs attempted and all XPs. I was impressed with Speight as well. He used that big body to deliver balls even with defenders draped all over him a couple times.

Please, only someone that doesn't know football would believe that.

The FG Attempts were without wind and rain.

Stats don't lie. All yardage vs first team defense. Good luck stopping Alabama if you make it that far.
Michigan is a really good team and their QB is really good. In the playoffs, without the refs in their pocket and against better teams than UCF, it won't be pretty. They're just not there yet. Alabama and FSU, off the top of my head, would make quick work.

Except for the drop of a perfect long snap. I was really happy that he did not try to kick or throw it (still have bad memories from the last year). All in all, though, he is going to be difficult to replace next year--most especially, as you said, on the height and depth of his kickoffs.

True. But run defense is a combination of things. Tackling good. Gap coverage and outside contain angles, uh, not so good. You can't tackle if you can't get to them. Points up the need for some scheme tweaks that I am confident will be worked on this week.

UM isn't going to beat Alabama. UM has it's weaknesses.

I did appreciate your 'projection'. I was responding to a post that the game was somewhat close...huh?

UM called off the dogs. Are you saying that UM couldn't have scored more points? Killins had a nice run but your conclusion is he would have run all over UM even though the lb'er was held. Watch the tape. I thought he had another carry.

Talk about being sensitive. Look it's this simple. If they played again on the same field...UCF would be a 30 plus underdog. Not that hard to understand. UM isn't a championship level team right now and UCF wasn't close to being competitive with UM.

Are you serious? I am going to link your comments to another board since I want people to see how another fan can actually think they were competitive in a game that was lost by 37 pts?

Wow. You do realize that when your qb went down and you had the big run you were down by 30 pts right?
