Just listened to the archive of GOL's Thursday morning interview with Bianchi. Right off the bat, Bianchi asked if GOL watched the Republican Debate and GOL said there's no way he gets home in time. "Are you a Republican or Democrat?" to which GOL replied, "I don't talk politics, " followed with a couple chuckles.
Then he did reveal more information about Holman's injury, saying it was fractured. For what it's worth, I heard it was an open dislocation.
"He actually fractured the finger and it had to be sutured. It's two to four. I'm hoping it's the earlier part of that... There's not much you can do, it's the throwing hand."
GOL then added that both QBs would probably play against Furman. He doesn't want to shrink the playbook, but they try to call plays they're more comfortable with. It's key to get confidence early.
"I think Schneider has won the job as the second quarterback because he makes less mistakes and I think he makes quicker decisions as far as getting rid of the ball. Both are similar as far as movement. Tyler probably has the strongest arm of the three of them, but again it's his decision making. You can't take 43 yards in two sacks... They've both worked hard this week."
GOL added Schneider also got the start because he makes quicker decisions which is a plus when you're dealing with a spotty OL. He then went on to say the WR and DB need to play better.
On Joey Grant, GOL said he came in on Monday and complained about the two shoulders. He reiterated his overall health was more important and to move on. "You're always going to miss experience. You can't buy that. Luckily we had Jason Rae who we won nine games with last year."
Then more on WRs and separation: "There's enough speed out there, but you can't be rolling into routes. There's certain things they're doing we have to correct. Sean Beckton is working hard with them, they're either short on routes or long on routes. It's a group we spent more time with them this week to get things right. Young receivers have trouble with the detail of the route."
He explains the WRs have been "lazy" coming out of the cut.
Why little play-action? They changed the game plan based on the QBs that were in. Holman would have been the play-action guy.
On Furman: "We better play well... We'll have to improve tremendously, especially in those areas I talked about, receiver and defensive back."
