Attack drones cannot handle most combat situations.
It is very scary that we're doing this to retired pilots, who have served their duty, in an undeclared war situation. Emergency powers were never designed for the case of continual, undeclared wars.
The Authorized Use of Military Force is BS and just an illustration of Congress abdicated power it is responsible for. The fact that the 2001 bill has now been cited for actions in Afghanistan, Cuba (Guantanamo Bay), Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Iraq, Kenya, Libya, Philippines, Somalia, Syria and Yemen only illustrates the problem with it. It's too open and there's no endpoint.
From the bill:
That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons,
in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.
This will never end and will continue to bleed us of resources that could be spent elsewhere.
