After that disaster of a season, it was rumored that Rich Rodriquez would be interested in a fresh start at a smaller program. Guess what program that was? UCF.

..and also built wvu into a monster.

Err...uhhh....NO.

He never "built WVU into a monster".

He turned into a crybaby on National TV after getting his ass beat by a 3-7 Pitt team that ruined The Ears chance at a NC game back in November 2007.

The Ears have never won a National Championship in any sport at any level. Except Rifle, of course.

I mean, you can look it up.

Wait, are you basically saying that a Rich Rod-coached Big East team not named Miami had a chance at playing for a National Championship?

I think he won a few National Championships at Glenville State too. Rich Rod would have been perfect at UCF

I'm going to put words in the mouth of the OP, but UCF is a great destination for well-known coaches looking to reboot their career. (I would never want Rich Rod on our campus!) While he was out of work and before taking the Texas Tech job, I remember Tommy Tuberville saying that he would love to coach at UCF. He thought recruiting in the state of Florida offered opportunities to build a great program.

While i wouldnt disown my team if we fired GOL after the 2011 season like the huggers would, i wasnt necessarily looking forward to seeing him leave like i am now.

I like Bruce Fowler for the job. After all, he coached his I-AA/FCS Paladins to a road victory over IA/FBS powerhouse UCF. Two years ago he coached the Paladins to the FCS playoffs in spite of having the first, second, and third string quarterbacks out with injuries during the season. This included victories over Appalachian State and Georgia Southern (teams now in IA/FBS).

That year was crazy for the Big East. All you guys pretty much had a chance to play in the National Championship but you kept beating each other up. Fun season to watch. Best football that conference had in a while.
