Russia hacks the DNC. Obama sanctions Russia by closing two consulates and expelling 35 diplomats (among other things).

Putin takes the high road though, saying he will not retaliate and expel anyone, although his foreign minister called for expulsion of 35 US diplomats. And then they tweeted this out:

An outsider is president of the country. He didn't play by their rules and the parties tried everything to stop him, he still won. I'm he same would have happened on He democratic side if not for the corruption associated with the dems. I would say the system lost.

I hope Congress kicks Trump squarely in the c*nt over Russia. He's not just saying he wants better relations, he is now a pathetic cheerleader for Putin. It's sad and pathetic and beneath the office of the Presidency.

Congress needs to put Trump in his place ASAP and pass even stronger sanctions on Russia.

Until congress is provided the proof of what Obama claims It's a he said she said. Trump gets briefingings so I would assume he knows what happened. From what I have seen from Obama, he looks to blame anyone for his failures including Russia.

Um, no. Members of Congress have been shown the evidence and it's overwhelming. This is not even a debate. It's only being debated amongst Trumpers who adore him and will go with anything he says. This is the guy, remember, who gleefully boasted about not getting his daily intelligence briefing.

He is now taking to Twitter to slobber over a thug foreign leader who opposes US policy around the world who was just sanctioned by our own government over using their foreign agency to tamper with our elections.

How on God's earth do you defend that?

Here's what someone should do to Trump: stick him in a room, take away his goddamn Twitter feed, and tell him to STFU until he's educated on things he needs to know as President. He's embarrassing himself more and more with every dipshit tweet he makes.

Wrong again but nothing new for you.

The report was 13 pages of nothing, so bad was the report that ClowdStrike who investigated the DNC hack went on to say "The DHS statement is a restatement of already known public information, a series of technical indicators that are intended for use by cybersecurity professionals in finding and remediating APT28 malware on private sector networks, and some generic advice for companies as to how to improve their network security."

My favorite part was the disclaimer at the top of the report “The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not provide any warranties of any kind regarding any information contained within.”

What the hell is that, anything after that statement is worthless. Yes they were hacked, yes it could be the russians, after seeing how this administration outright lied to the American people about health care, the Iran deal and called the American media sheep and manipulatable, excuse me for not believing what they say without real proof.

The intelligence report doesn't provide any evidence. You can read it here:

The intelligence report lists every threat group ever reported on by Crowdstrike that are suspected of being Russian made and called them Russian Intelligence Services. The report does not provide a link from the Russian government to those different groups. (It's like calling all US Black hats using a particular piece of Malware NSA operatives).

The problem with this logic is that once Malware is deployed, it is replicated and redeployed by new threat groups. Even the research firm ESET got the source code to the DNC malware. The point is, it's essentially open-source once deployed which makes attribution to a single threat group extremely difficult. This report does not lend any evidence that it originated from the Russian government or that it was directed by the Russian government.

That's not to say this exonerates the Russians. They certainly could have done it and have the means to do it. But this report is not evidence. The fact that the White House is claiming it is evidence makes me skeptical. There could be damning evidence that is classified; but if so, there should be an independent commission to review it because this entire assignment of blame against the Russian government is looking more and more like a domestic political operation run by the White House that relied heavily on questionable intelligence generated by a for-profit cybersecurity firm with a vested interest in selling "attribution-as-a-service".

Lastly, if supposed evidence of election tampering by the Russian government is found, why on earth is sanctions of 35 Russian Nationals the appropriate response? Seems like an inadequate response to an attack against a fundamental US institution.

I still don't understand why this is such a huge story. The DNC was hacked and all their shady shit was released. OK, end of story. The Russians didn't hack polling stations of cast fraudulent votes, how did they influence the election? Everyone already knew the DNC and Clinton are essentially a crime syndicate, libs don't care and everyone else is just labeled conspiracy theorists/racist/sexist/etc.
