Just heard from a friend a plane landed and unloaded several Russian helicopters. Airport personnel seem confused. Any ideas? Bueller?

Trump is obviously allowing the invasion to begin. Starting at small airports so it won't bring as much attention.

This is from a friend so I didn’t personally see it but airport personnel weren’t told until last minute.

There is two pictures. I guess they unloaded 6 helicopters. But what language is that on the transport plane?

IDK, can you get a blurrier picture?

In seriousness though it's just a Russian civilian An-124, a few airlines in former Soviet Bloc countries operate them.

Please tell me that you went to another university not named UCF; or that maybe you didn't even have a higher education experience. Really?? "There is"?? Reminds me of an old Tom and Jerry cartoon.

SFB does a lot of maintenance, refurbishment, and decommissioning of all kinds of aircraft. Drive down 46 and you'll see a lot of older heavy aircraft along the north side of the airport. Maybe they're into helicopters as well?

What is the writing on the plane that delivered them?
The livery basically confirms that's the An-124 of the Volga-Dnepr Group (Wikipedia), a Russian-based contract logistics company. Not only does US (among other nation's) companies regularly contract them, but even the US military.

Until early in the 21st century, the An-124 held the record ...
for the heaviest lift production aircraft. Only the latest 787-8 freight variants can match it, but I think the An-124 still has a superior set of cross-section dimensions for loading.

SFB recently extended its 90 left / 270 right runway to over 2 miles long.

That's plenty long enough for just about anything ...
even the Concorde -- or some of the prototype spaceplanes (or plane-based 1st stage) being talked about -- for an extra-long testing roll. This makes SFB extremely desirable, like SWF in New York, which not far from the US Military Academy (West Point). The Concorde used to use SWF for transatlantic testing, as it is well outside developed areas.

Just FYI, SFB is operated -- via the Sanford Airport Authority -- by the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System. Yes, it's -- essentially -- Canadian government operated, on-behalf of the investments of a thousand companies. Which goes back to why SFB is largely utilized by Commonwealth interests, not so much domestic ones.

I guess I didn’t understand the secrecy for the delivery. I appreciate the info on the aircraft though. I don’t know much about military aircraft.

There are... I hope everyone sleeps better now. I was in a hurry when I typed that. Hopefully the grammar gods forgive me...

It's a global economy. It makes it very difficult to separate the legitimate business interests from the political ones at times.
