Sawyer Smith: possible 2 sport player?

So if Terry Rooney wanted Sawyer to try out for his team, O'Leary could nix it? That doesn't sound right.
Sure it does as off season strength/weight training and then Spring Practice all happen during basevall season.
Kid is on a FOOTBALL scholarship. He will do whatever this coaches want or he will lose said scholarship but would be free to pay for own room, board, tuition to walk on baseball team.
Okay, fair enough, but I'm wondering how players like Eric Riggs (basketball/baseball) and Dee Brown (football/baseball) handled it when they played two sports. Did it impact them in some negative way?
For the amount of time QB's spend in the film room and/or throwing routes to any and all at the Indoor Practice Facility...let alone a QB who hasn't even taken a snap at the college level...it would impact said player greatly.
A few have done both (Charlie Ward...former punter turned QB), but Brown was a baseball star that played 3 seasons of football (only had 65 carries in his UCF career while catching a few dozen balls out of the backfield....as Brown mostly played for Coach K's staff (hence that agreement at that time, i.e. miss most/all of Spring Practice/Strength/Conditioning).
the only way this would happen...would be to get some big tgime stud that says he isnt coming here unless he can play both...would have to be someone really good like Jameis...
