i think the idea of the national "walk up" day is far better about solving an actual problem vs the walk out protests.

You just posted something from "satire @ political ridicule"..

Come on.

I mean honestly - you are whining about propaganda and then you're falling for the literal FAKE NEWS Facebook stuff...
hogg-armband-431-x-600.jpg

that is a real picture of david hogg who is one of the leading parkland students calling for banning guns. he posted that picture on twitter a few days ago.

can you not see the similarity?

There is a reason students are "walking out" of class. If you have a high schooler you know that 95% of them are just doing it to ditch class.

When the organize something that doesn't involve cutting class, I will be more impressed (but barely).

How exactly does an armband "protest gun violence"? Will someone intent on murder see the armband and walk away?

I get lefties screaming in hysterics when I dare to mention "praying" for victims, yet now they're cheerleading armbands.

its completely stupid. also the way its worn looks very similar to the nazi armband. again anyone with historical knowledge would probably shy away from doing something that resembles anything nazi related.

National Walkout today on the one month anniversary. These kids are being smeared by russian bots and internet trolls but they are having an effect.

And what effect is that? Armbands and ditching class = highly effective.

Offering prayers = shut your f*cking mouth

I'm asking just so I understand what is allowable as effective or not.

It's got the internet trolls calling them douches and Hitler and whining and bitching about how dare they try to keep this topic relevant, so I'd say they are having their desired effect.

"Red badge of courage" ;)

Listen, I'm all for protesting ... even a little civil disobedience every now and then.

But I've run into too many people I respect literally sounding like US media sheep these days. And when I talk about them letting their fear get the best of them, all because they can only listen to what the US media says, and not the statistics, they get really upset with me. Guns are the Progressive's 9/11 War.

Because when I start talking all the statistics, let alone the many ways people die at the hands of irresponsible people, negligent people -- including parents -- they say I'm "changing the subject." No, I'm keeping with the entire subject, just not the single thing you want to focus on, irrespective of everything else that is a far, far greater danger.

Which is why I've withdrawn from the debate.

LOL. You have to be smarter than that.

There's nothing wrong with thoughts and prayers - that's not at ALL what people are saying. It's when there is no ACTION behind those thoughts and prayers where people say, "enough with saying thoughts and prayers", they just mean DO SOMETHING.

These people are.

What these teenagers are doing is a much better action than the Republican counter: to do nothing and pray you or your family aren't murdered.

Exactly. These kids, and they are literally kids, are doing quite a bit to make some change happen, and you have literally morons complaining online that they aren't doing anything. Even if you don't agree with them (which I don't) they are doing a hell of a lot to make things happen.

Oh I see- we are in the DO SOMETHING camp now. So when a student takes to the podium and lies, saying a good guy with a gun never stops a bad guy, that’s all good- because they are DOING SOMETHING!

“The NRA are terrorists”. Now we are doing something!

Or it could be that you have demonstrated that you hate religious people and are all too eager to also shit on anyone who dares to offer prayers?

Yes, that’s probably it.

Republican candidate just openly called the one teenage girl a skinhead lesbian.

Nice going, toolbags.

Yawn. Wrong yet again. I'm beginning to see a trend with you: lying your ass off because you can't make a point otherwise. I've never said or even implied I hate religious people.

I don't think Ninja's views on religion or religious people have anything to do with it. Ninja and bq are simply arguing that those offering thoughts and prayers are really no different than Facebook SJWs typing behind a keyboard supporting a cause. In their opinion, both are equally effective/ineffective at solving a problem.

When you call people “butthole stupid” for believing in God or having faith, as you’ve done, then I don’t know what else to think. Maybe you don’t hate them, and merely have disdain and contempt for them. I guess that’s better.

When our very own president is King of the Liars, why should anyone else be held to different standards? People twist words to get what they're saying across it's nothing new and it will never change.

I really don't care if they lie to make a point; it's the time tested method to politick. I do have a problem with this narrative that any critique of them is "out of bounds" because THEY'RE KIDS! Nonsense. They want the national spotlight and they want to dive into the realm of constitutional rights; they get to play the game like adults.

And then there's the groupthink mob aspect. My niece told me that the kids who chose to stay in school yesterday in Pinellas and do things like learn were bullied and ridiculed by their asshole classmates who self righteously marched to nowhere.

Well, that's not at all what you were saying. You've changed your story.

Yes, they are allowed to be critiqued. You are allowed to not like what they are doing, however, they are allowed to do it. They are getting more done than others have been able to do in the past.

I don't agree with the bullying - and that should be dealt with like any other bullying in schools. Unfortunately, I don't have much faith there - I feel like nothing gets done with bullying.

I never said they shouldn't be allowed to do this; just that there's a glaring double standard in play here.

i bet if you asked those kids what they knew about gun laws in this country all you would get are blank stares. they are being used as political pawns.

they are actively protesting to have their own rights removed. they are probably unaware of the times guns have been taken away from citizens and then bad things happened.

98% of them don't even know what they're doing. They would march against women's suffrage or the 1st amendment if it meant they could get out of class or look cool.

You realize if you ask most people in this country about almost any laws they won't know what they're talking about?

It's amazing that you all are bashing young people for being politically active. Sorry you're so afraid of them.

People who beat up others for simply holding different views are quite literally fascists.

Deterring free speech with violence. Isn't it awesome?

im glad more young people are getting active. overall i view that as a good thing. however, they arent educated enough to make a decision and that scares me and if should scare you as well.

Wayne - a LARGE, I mean LARGE portion of the US Adult population are not educated enough to make decisions. 16% of the country doesn't have a HS diploma and nearly 70% of the US population has no college degree.

i dont care about the college degree part. that doesnt mean anything anymore. college degrees have become so watered down its not funny.

i do care about the 16% without a hs diploma though. that is way too high. more needs to be done to adress this. there needs to be more vocational programs in high school. i think that would make a significant impact.

So what? I know plenty of people with totally worthless liberal arts or communications degrees that are still nitwits. I also know a lot of people who only graduated HS, yet run successful businesses and have made great choices in their lives and have great families.

This is the issue that you've just embodied. We have 18 year old self entitled assholes thinking they know everything because they enrolled in a SJW course in college, trying to shout down people in their 40's and 50's who have decades of wisdom and life experience but never attended some severely overpriced liberal arts college.

What will it ever take for 85 to learn that the "I know people who..." argument is loss poor? I've really never seen somebody use that dumbass comment in an argument more than he does, and he doesn't even realize that the fallacy hurts him more than it helps. He's a moron.

So only book smart people that PAY tens of thousands of dollars can understand the difference between 2 candidates to make an intelligent vote?

Wow...thank you again for showing what liberal elitism is all about.
