Ted Cruz and many GOPers have backed legislation that would have congress DO THEIR JOB and fix this mess legislatively, but Schumer and his band of nitwits is refusing to back the bill since they’d rather play partisan midterm politics.

If this is such a “crisis” then why are these jackasses refusing legislation that would fix the perceived issues instnelty? Oh, we know why..

Cruz's proposal seems rational, cant see why anyone who thinks this situation is a problem wouldnt sign on and expedite it. Oh, politics i guess.

You don't need a law to fix this, because..... child separation isn't an existing law. It's a Trump administration policy.

Republicans propose a bill not ending this policy, and changing a ton of immigration law, that nobody else supports.

Dems have a bill with 100% dem support that shuts down family seperation and nothing else.

0% of repubs are onboard because of the nothing else part. They created a situation to use as a bargaining chip. That's exactly what hostage takers do.

Color me shocked that those scum bags want bills that do nothing to fix the actual root cause problem! Just like when they want mass legalization with no strings attached.

Democrats created the era of open borders. Those days are gone. They can either be part of the solution in fixing this border mess or continue being obstructionist extremists

It really is a terrible take. This is blatant end run by the states to get around federal immigration policy. It would never hold up in court. But the goal isn’t to actually fix anything, it’s #resistance. With taxpayer money.

I dont agree and I wouldnt vote for the Feinstein bill either. It leaves open the question of what to do with the kids if they arent separated, so that could mean prison along with mom and dad, or it could mean they have to just let the whole family go. Too much is left to another party to decide what to do.

Che mmie Guevara once again has it wrong. Heres the main points of the Cruz bill:
  • Doubling the number of federal immigration judges, from roughly 375 to 750.
  • Authorizing new temporary shelters with accommodations to keep families together.
  • Mandating that immigrant families be kept together, absent aggravated criminal conduct or threat of harm to children.
  • Providing for expedited processing and review of asylum cases so that — within 14 days — those who meet the legal standards will be granted asylum and those who do not will be immediately returned to their home countries.

Only unreasonable, extreme partisan assholes would refuse to support a bill containing those provisions.
