I've noticed all over twitter and the forum that Frost "only has 1 winning season"...

While factually true, let's look at this in a more realistic way:
If Frost stays at UCF, he has winning seasons for at least 4 years. He's not doing worse than Hype if he stays during that time.

I'm not focused on the "1 winning" season scenario.
I'm focused on how he comes in and rebuilds this program.

I'm optimistic that:
  • Recruiting improves. His ability to recruit was phenomenal. Some of the best talent was acquired while he was here.
  • Offensive production improves.
  • Fan support improves significantly.
  • Frost is extremely motivated and will work extremely hard to get us back to winning UCFast.
I'm a bit pessimistic about:
  • Our current roster and what he has to work with.
  • If Frost isn't motivated; then this can blow up quickly.
  • The coordinators he brings in. Hopefully this quickly gets moved into the optimistic list.

One of several places: if we do well, back to Nebraska? LOL… if he does poorly but can call a good game, an SEC school as an OC. If he does poorly and the wheels fall off the program, the unemployment line.
Nah if we do well he stays for the duration of that time.. he learned that UCF is his “dream” job now. That’s the intriguing part of the hire. We are his dream job

We may be naïve, but I tend to agree. Frost took an opportunity that didn’t work out after reluctantly leaving UCF. Everyone was saying if he stayed, he could’ve built his legacy here. But he wanted to coach at his Alma Mater close to his aging parents, and had $35mil reasons to take that Nebraska job. I believe if he strikes success with us again, he’s in it for the long haul.

We have better talent than what he started with. I wonder if some of the players in the portal might return. Definitely should keep some players from going into the portal. Frost needs to look for his Milton type QB who won't have to be built like Cam Newton.

I think part of Frost's downfall at Nebraska was getting away from recruiting Florida players. Frost recruited nationally at Nebraska and although he signed some Florida players it didn't seem like he focused on Florida.

I believe there are many Florida players ranked as Two or three stars which would be four star players in other states. The talent in all of Florida is superb and it's not limited to the largest schools. There's plenty of talent, even at 2A schools. Iron sharpens iron...and Florida HS players are fast, uber athletic, well coached, and compete against other top athletes their entire life..... beginning in pop Warner and all the way through HS.

I'm hoping he reconnects with FL HS coaches and makes Florida and Georgia his bread and butter. Not saying he shouldn't pursue out of state players (see McKenzie Milton), but maybe a four star from AZ isn't as good as most three stars from Fl. Frost's quick turn around of UCF was because he scored in recruiting above average college and NFL caliber players primarily from Florida. I'll take Florida's football and baseball players over any state's. There are players who sit or get cut (more so in baseball) because of the talent level being so high and some HSs don't have the roster spots for players to make the team. Killins, Otis Anderson, Collier, and others were two or three star players who helped propel our program. Get back to signing FL boys!!!

I agree except when recruiting QBs. going West has worked for us, he’ll go to Hawaii, Arizona , California

If he doesnt leave we habe 5-6 ten win seasons straight.

I think you meant to say "even at the rural level" when speaking about Florida classification talent. 2A is LOADED with talent in Florida. Diamonds everywhere. Plenty of private schools in 2A also and 1A is all private schools if I'm not mistaken.

Private schools recruit the best players. 1A and 2A teams regularly beat even 7A schools in Florida. Even some rural ones do like Madison County and Hawthorne.

If he does well and Oregon or USC calls, he is gone in a Texas minute....it isn't just him, the blue bloods can always use the rest of the FBS as a base for hiring coaches and getting transfers.

That's exactly what I'm saying.
His "1 winning season" is based off of Nebraska's situation; not UCF's.
If he stayed at UCF; he has 6 winning seasons on his resume.

At Nebraska, he supposedly had a very significant loss record by 1 score games. In other words, he wasn't getting blown out. He was losing close games at Nebraska with rosters that weren't loaded with FL high school players.

I'm hopeful he quickly gets back into a groove recruiting UCFast and UCFierce type players. I'm "glass is half full" with the Frost hire.

Excited about the culture change. Gus talked a good game but how he used the players didn't materialize into victories on the field. I don't believe we are aiming for this same result with Frost.

I really liked that he spoke about growth since he left UCF which should really help our program. He spoke of not burning out the defense with running the UCFast offense all the time which is an example of growth. Just think of the type of offense we could have if Frost implemented an offense similar to the Rams which we saw on TV last weekend. He has learned from his time away, I believe this.

He also said we won't go undefeated right off the get go. Finally, that he wants the players to have access to money through the NIL but he also wants to foster an environment where he can grow good football players across multiple seasons spent at UCF.

Many of the things he spoke about were what needs to be done next with this UCF football program items. The players are going to love him and he is going to turn us around away from becoming a 2-12 program which was where we were heading after this dismal season.

It's difficult to tell what next season will bring. It's hard for me to believe it will get any worse than this 4-win fiasco, though.

Just on talent alone we should be able to win the cupcake non conference matchups. After that i would anticipate with solid coaching we should be back to winning the “winnable” games. We were favored in 10 of 12 matchups this season and won 4 of them. Thats unacceptable

It’s pure conjecture to assume he would have done better than Heupel. Remember our top 2 receivers, best linebacker and best CB were drafted following 2017 magical season. And Heupel then proceeded to not lose a game until Milton was injured and we faced the team that would go on to be the best college football team in history (arguably) the following season. Unless Vedral was the answer, Frost would have also had to break in a true freshman or transfer in 2019. And he would have had to deal with similar Covid impacts in 2020. Im glad frost is back, but at the end of the day if he was 11-2 in 2017 we don’t bring him back. He still needs to prove he can win consistently. And he will have the opportunity here. Probably his last shot.

I agree - I think Frost should focus on Florida, Georgia, and Texas for talent. Florida has speed and kids who play football year round. Georgia has some big boys, hopefully he can get them to join our OL/DL. Texas has some smart FB players and the fact there are so many teams there in our conference that it would be nice to recruit some and get them on our sidelines during our away games.

I want more than 14 points scored in a game and just seeing improvement.
I'd like to see more passing attempts and an offense that excites me. Gus had a style similar to GOL, run it up the gut. That worked out well until we got into the Big East/AAC.

It worked for GOL teams because he paired it with good defense.....what the hell gus was thinking is anyone's guess.....one year let everyone run, the next let everyone pass.

And HOW did GOL's teams not work in the AAC? Two conference titles in 2 years....and our first Big 12 title :)

But it took a long time to get there from C-USA.

I may be mistaken, but I believe a school's designation is based on the number of students enrolled. Most private scools have small enrollments, hence 1A and 2A designations. ..but I agree lots of talent at the smaller schools. Schools like Bishop Moore and Cardinal Gibbons produce very good players in multiple sports.

St Thomas Aquinas is a monster in south Florida but has low enrollment too

In South Carolina, where the private schools aren't even good, they count every student as 3 students to calculate enrollment for private schools. So teams that were 2A/1A are now in the same division as 4A and 5A teams.
