Season tickets are flying off the shelves!!

I renew every year, but I don't normally bother with the early deposit. I made my per ticket deposit this year just to show my support.

In just 2 days 1000 deposits for season tickets have been taken by the athletic department. A mixture of both new tickets and renewals. This is huge!!

Why does this matter? If 1000 people have season tickets and pay by any deadlines exist the result is 1000 ticket holders. It doesn't really matter if partial payments come in early. The only important stat will be new ticket sales.

UCF sent out emails to season tix holders for special perks if season tix renewals or new ones put down just $50 deposit per tix.

It worked.

Same thing happened in 2004. Only we were in the Citrus Bowl at that time

I think it's always a good thing to lock people in early and get an infusion of cash sooner rather than later.

In 2014 I committed to buy Orlando City season tickets for the first MLS season, and due to some household economic uncertainty I did not buy UCF football season tickets for 2015 for the first time since the days we were in the Citrus Bowl. That was a decision I made way back before the renewal deadline and before I knew how the season would unfold. But on Wednesday morning I gave my annual donation to GKC and put down my deposit for 2016 season tickets.

And in hindsight, I really wish that the UCF administration had permitted GOL to retire after the Fiesta Bowl as he said he wanted to do. It would have given him the perfect way to go out on top, and I think almost everyone realizes that with the move away from the BCS to the playoff system it would be nearly impossible for any coach at UCF to top that win until or unless conference realignment moves us to a Power 5 conference (still not holding my breath for that).

"We're fast. We play fast. We have fast guys. Those guys are right here to be had," Frost said. "If I were a fast kid in the state of Florida and I knew we were going to play that type of offense here, this place would look really good to me."

Sad to say, but just over a 1,000 in the first two days is actually p-poor. If it were 10,000 then maybe I would be excited.

Haha 10,000 would be 675 phone calls an hour for 2 days straight. For a staff of 6 that's a deposit every 45 seconds. That would be silly.

Wait, are you saying that this ticket office has not yet been outsourced to a mega call site in India? We are doomed. Americans are not capable of such positions. <sarcasm>
