... I'll post the craziest, Honors style, theory out there:

What if Barrett rallies the troops and wins all 4 remaining games? How do you not consider him as a candidate at that point?

Like I said, this is Honors-level conspiracy theory shit, but go ahead. Let's try this one on for size.

Wouldn't hurt that it proved all the 'haters' correct. Maybe we can get names on the jerseys next year and be playing on new years...

I think Tulsa is a winnable game and maybe ECU since it is at home. But I think Cinci and USF are going to be hard to beat this year.
But, your theory could backfire if Brent Key gets credit for the play calling. :football:

That would make this theory even crazier, wouldn't it?

You think Hitt pulls a full Orgeron?
I mean UCF already publicly said they are giving Key his buyout over 24 months and with some of the buzz out there for the job I'd be shocked if Hitt wants to stay in house especially for Recruiting purposes.

I agree, I'm just trying to keep the Honors-level conspiracy theory mood for the topic. ;)

There is no reason to stay in-house. We're not a p5 program raking in 25-30 million/yr and trying to maintain a pipeline of 4-5 star recruits. We can blow things up and it won't hurt recruiting that much.

I didn't know he was a head coach in the CFL. I have to admit on just a physical standpoint it's kind of nice to see someone who could beat the **** out of a coordinator who didn't do what he said.

The chances of him winning all 4 games is so low that you would have to.

It's already helped recruiting.

I could see the offense improving a little but I don't have much hope for the Defense to stop giving up big plays under Bresnehan.

I just have this feeling that UCF wins 2 games but it would be the games we wouldn't expect. Maybe Cinci has the worst day and turns the ball over 5 times and UCF wins there but then loses at Tulsa the next week.

Its already stated in the Orlando Sentinel that the search will be outside of the current staff. Can Hitt do a reverse Oregeron? Possibly. I hope he doesnt though. I can see them keep Barrett in mind just like Nebraska did with Bo Pelini though....and there's nothing wrong with that. Instead of relying on one coach and causing an issue that affects the bottom line, they need to hire a coach who can either keep a coach or two on staff that wants to stay after that coach decides to go to a P5..or if UCF fires the staff keep an ace in the hole like Barrett in mind to be the very next coach...if of course he does a good job at the interim.

I like him. I've already used the " I'm not racist. The head coach of my favorite NCAA football team is black." four times.
