It’s right after Bush’s trial for lying about Iraq having WMDs so we could go to war. Or after Obama’s trial for killing American citizens without due process.
The sad thing is that the worst thing Trump did was ignore the situation in Yemen(which Obama allowed, not that it really matters) and allow the Saudis to continue to kill so many innocent people. 10s of thousands of children will die from hunger and Cholera because the U.S. “needs” to placate the Saudis. Killing, or allowing the killing, of innocent people is so standard in our country that goofballs taking an unapproved self guided tour of the Capital building is considered worse than genocide. Well, it probably has more to do with corruption at the top and making money for weapons manufacturers, but still eff this government.

Yeah, all Tricky Dick did was cover-up a break-in of the Watergate offices of the DNC. It was a small-scale crime compared to a full-scale Capitol insurrection. Can you believe that Republicans back then put the country first??!? Crazy, huh?
When we have leaders, who have sworn to protect our country from foes, both foreign and domestic, put party before country, our great democracy is on dangerous ground.
I’ve seen two explanations. The first was that calling witnesses would add weeks maybe months to the trial. This would disrupt what Biden wants to do and, like a war that is to long, begin to lose the support they have from their party. Also, they knew McCarthy wouldn’t backup the things said about him and Trump if Trump’s team were to call on him.
I’ve also seen it explained that Pelosi and the mayor of DC would have been called to answer what they knew about why requests for extra security were denied amid pretty specific reports about what would happen. This caused the Dems to about face.

The two biggest reasons is the Covid relief bill probably gets stalled 2-4 weeks and it would have made the AG approval stall as well. Very online politics Twitter is pissed but to anyone that is not as engaged they care more about a stimulus check
You do realize that every single Democrat voting for an “impeachment” trial after Trump left office is just as blindly following the party’s directives, right? I mean, you keep telling us you’re smart as hell so surely you have enough self-awareness to realize that. Then again, you said you were a Republican at some point so maybe self-awareness isn’t really your thing.
McConnell pushed the trial to post Jan 20 then used that as the justification for his acquittal while sounding like he was prosecuting him during his floor speech. gtfo about which political party acts more in bad faith
Yeah, you’re right. Democrats don’t vote as a single unified block in almost every single vote. Just like Democrats don’t blame others for doing what they’ve already cornered the market on. That must be it.
Also, just to solidify that you’re full of shit, note that the date on this article about McConnell pushing to February is dated January 21st. Let’s also use the common sense test. The event was January 6th and he left office on the 20th. How in the name of anything resembling justice could there be a fair impeachment trial through both chambers of Congress in 14 days? That’s either the fastest trial in the history of trial or it was a race to make a political statement from a party that is bereft of anything resembling ethics. And you proudly align yourself with that, so bravo.
