SMU falls to UCLA, UAB/GAST Move On

WOW...SMU was robbed on that last call....mind you the game shouldn't have been that close (Alford was 9-11 on 3 pointers to keep UCLA in the game)....but the final shot was wide right with no chance to go in...

that's a shame......

90 % of close basketball games are decided by a ref's call (or no call). This one just happened to be at the end of the game. If it had happened in the first half no one would say much. Ref control of the game is the main problem I have with basketball. It often makes it unwatchable.

ESPN is showing Cincy won with their group of thugs. And that goaltending call was completely within the rules. Ball was above the rim when he tipped it.

Under Rule 9.3a 1 and 2, "Goaltending occurs when a defensive player touches the ball during a field-goal try and each of the following conditions is met: the ball is on the downward flight; and the ball is above the level of the ring and has a possibility of entering the basket.[/B]"

The ball had no chance of going in. The ref that blew the whistle had a side view and could not see the angle and had no right blowing the whistle. It was a blown call.

oops, i was wrong about Cincy. They did win. Sorry. I even watched the game but was distracted in OT so got the outcome wrong.
