SMU players to sit out rest of season.......

Wonder if we see some folks down on depth chart. Kinda expect MK to be in this boat
I knew someone would say this...

Mikey Keene has no reason to announce he's entering the transfer portal *right now. He hasn't played in any games yet. He will continue to practice, continue to wait his turn. What if Plumlee gets injured (and for whatever reason, the staff didn't want to turn to Castellanos yet)? Keene wouldn't be able to step in and showcase himself if he were in the portal already.

Players that are entering the portal now have a couple of particular circumstances going for them:
-They've dressed and participated in four games already this season
-AND they don't think they've gotten enough playing time, reps, etc. To preserve their current NCAA season classification, they are electing to enter the portal now (rather than wait)....

By that criteria, I would imagine UCF players that are considering entering the portal right now are perhaps:
-Mark Antony-Richards, RB (not on the two-deep, hasn't recorded a rush through four games)
-William Wells, safety (this one would potentially hurt, still a young player that finished the year very strong last season. Hasn't played much this year, isn't on the two-deep)
-Edward Collins, OL (has started 14 career games at UCF, hasn't played much since Heupel left, doesn't seem to be in the current staff's plans this year)

Again, there are obviously other players that may be considering as well. But they wouldn't have to announce this week, because they haven't participated in four games yet.

Noticed on the depth chart that was just released that Kam Moore is now listed as the backup LB to JJB. Wonder if Branden Jennings is going to redshirt and hit the portal again??
Speculation by me, but curious to know what is going on there??

I think this disruption plays into our hands. Thoughts?

I don't think Keene will announce he will leave this early. If he leaves, it will be later in the year. He isn't in danger of losing a year of eligibility. In addition, he is still someone that fans know and like because he led the charge to beat UF last year. They may have been down but his name will forever be attached to UCF's win over Florida. He may not be a perfect fit for Gus but he is a known product on the field. If something happened to Plumlee and there are 6 games left and we are not in the hunt for the CCG, I can see Keene coming back on the field over Castellanos if we are trying to keep his RS year. It solves 2 problems, keeps the RS and gives Keene some time on the field if he is going to leave for a starting position elsewhere. I personally think Keene has the ability to be a starting QB as he has potential. Whether UCF has the pieces to make him successful or not is up for debate. There were BIG12 teams that showed interest in him.

Keene would only play 3 or 4. TC would play the other 2 or 3. Neither would lose redshirt.

Maybe wants to stick with Terrence Lewis.

Wouldn't be a surprised if he bounced, 3rd program in 2 years. LB room has a revolving door since last year.
