So if we blow out FIU, is that an indicator we are a rock solid

Yes, but the converse is not true. This will be their Super Bowl, so will likely keep I close. That doesn't mean we will have a bad year, it just means they played above their level, much like we did a couple years ago when we had eventual National champion Ohio State on the ropes.

FIU has great athletes and this will be a tough game. If we blow them out, that's a great indicator of our strength...IMHO :) If it's a close game, then we need work. If we get beat...all bets are off :)

Indiana is still a P5 school regardless of how irrelevant they are. Beat low level P5 schools like them proves the distinction between G5 and P5 is a joke.

FIU would most definitely rather beat us than Indiana. Indiana is irrelevant no matter what conference they are in.
Why dont we play Indiana first before calling them irrelevant. Just saying we've had our chances to prove we can beat a team that was down but came up short.

I have to agree. FIU would think it would be nice to beat UCF, but a W at Indiana is a must for any SunBelt team. It gives them that +1 P5 statistic that they can use years down the road.

Our P5 statistics suck, even though half of them were ranked (and probably 2/3rds if you count ranked during any time in the season).

I think UCFBS is giving Knight_Light some competition here especially from the business side! ! :)

Might as well join the kiddie board banter...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we start the 2011 season off beating Charleston Southern 62-0, followed by blowing out Boston College 30-3? Remind me of our record that season....
Yep.

I also remember 2007 when people were talking about the South Park Cows, when we had ECU that week, and I warned of getting ahead of ourselves. Then we not only lost to ECU in Greenville, totally blowing the 3rd quarter, but we got the piss knocked out of us in Tampa.

I was at both of them, and it smarted ... badly.

So I totally understand why GoL pushes the concept of "1 game seasons."

2011 started off promising, went bad but ended on a positive note...the emergence of Blake Bortles, winning the last game of the season...and a great three year run. Ill take a losing season consisting of beating Boston College and losing a couple of close games over those 2006 and 2008 fiascos you want to compare it to.

You did, yet nobody acknowledged or apologized.
