So Joe Girardi was in, now he's out. Thoughts?

It was a weird idea. It got press attention because of the big name, but ultimately I don’t think it would’ve worked out. Begging a guy to come coach your team when he’s never had to deal with things like recruiting before.

I think it all seemed great on both sides since Girardi’s daughter is committed to play basketball I think right? I don’t think Girardi knows that HC of NCAA Baseball only get paid six figures, prob low six figures at UCF. He prob saw the contract and bounced.

In his last year with Philly he was 22-29 before the axe fell. That Philly team went on to play in the World Series after they fired him. Point is he was trending downward as a coach and that was without having to go into recruits homes and sit down with the parents. Big name, but he would be out of his element and the chance for success for the program going into the Big 12 would be diminished If he was hired. We may have dodged a bullet.

The baseball and basketball facilites at UCF are very poor. He also probably saw the budget for the baseball staff and quickly passed.

On a related note, Gus Malhazan make $2.3M a year (good OC money at a major school) which is ridiculously low for a P5 head coach…dude will be the lowest paid HC in the Big 12 and probably in all of P5. Golesh…a dude with zero HC experience and very little demand is making $2.5M a year at USF.

Let’s all agree that UCF is a poverty school.

Where's Miami's on-campus stadium located again?

I haven't been following, did he accept then decline? Or, was this a giant rumor like when Syracuse's current football HC was the next UCF HC, before Frost was found? Anyway, guess Wallace is the first ex-UCF player now HC. I lost that, would have bet it would have been Kevin.
