So this is the week we start (or have started) the summer doldrums

After the NBA finals it's nothing but hot summer weather, baseball, some soccer, arena football.

We're starting that long stretch of WAITING FOR FOOTBALL SEASON!

End of July is when I start feeling it a bit. Practice starts etc., etc.

Sorry. This is the season when I wait for college hoops season in November. Football is fun, but it's just a prelude for many of us. And at least our home weeknight televised basketball games don't result in classes being canceled. Finally, this season the basketball team for once has more talent and experience than the football team; combine that with the AAC being considerably better in hoops than on the gridiron. Football: a rebuilding year, no bowl, and a radically different, exciting system. But our basketball: a lot of potential to deliver wins this season and get UCF a bit of attention in the Big 12.

How many eligible players are on the basketball team? Not sure that the b-ball squad is going to make any more noise than the football team. Potential is their for both but so are my expectations for either to do anything but be a bit better than they were last year ... and that is a pretty low bar for both.
