So what would we (UCF) do if Holman was out with injury this year?

Harris has been a major disappointment. He's basically taken a step back and was absolutely terrible in the spring game.

I'm not a huge Holman fan, but he's clearly the best that we have. If he goes down, it's run the ball and Patti scrambling. Kind of like when Calabrese and Israel were the QB. However, Israel had a great offensive line and Kevin Smith. So.., it would be similar to the Calabrese years. Of course, GOL would take the blame.

Let's face it, if Holman goes down, so does the season until Bo gets experience.

Haven't been to the boards in a while... Is the Harris falloff based off the spring game or whats happening in practice?

I think we have been spoiled by Bortles and a greatly improved Holman. Patti would do fine in our offense but definitely like Holman running the show. I want to see how Bo looks in a college atmosphere too. He is pretty polished for a recent high school grad. I could see him taking over after Holman.

We need the QB position to play great. Not just good but great. I fear with the oline we have, we will be throwing the ball a ton again this year. I expext to see more 1 yard gains on running downs. I'm not sure we will find out how good our runningbacks are behind this oline.

How could you not like where Holman is? I could argue he had a better Sophomore year than Blake did along with a very shaky Oline.

I think Holman is in a great place right now. The beginning of the season this year will be the TELL-ALL. He's had several years under his belt. Now is the time for Holman. Anyone else agree? :)

I like Holman, but I can't compare him to Blake. I was a big fan of Blake since I watched him come off the bench against BYU and march us down the field. He was special from day one. So I many ways we are very spoiled. Holman is not Blake, but he is a good talent. I think he has the potential to be better than most QBs we have seen at UCF.

If Holman were to get hurt early in the year (season ending) then it would be Patti for about 4 games at least. If we were to go 3-1 maybe even split and the offense looks decent he would probably remain the starter until he struggled. If we go 1-3 or 0-4, then it would be time for Bo, if he looks ready on the practice field. One thing is for sure, Bo would be getting a lot more reps in practice.

This is very true, however Holman now needs to actually show on the field that he has improved on his touch, consistency, and accuracy.
It always baffles me when fans compare where 2 QBs were in their sophomore years. That just doesn't tell you anything about the potential of one QB compared to another. There are way more variables than that. Most of them can't be measured by stats, arm strength, etc. The "it" factor is always talked about by so many coaches and scouts. Not saying that Blake had that and Holman doesn't, but I always hear that and there is such a thing, however subjective as it sounds.

Sad thing is Holman could improve in all those areas...but since he will be working with basically a brand new and very inexperienced WR core...so much of his success will depend on their early success.

Are the WR's making the right reads and making the right routes?

Holman can throw a perfect pass but if the WR is not where he is suppose to be...pass will be incomplete or even INT.

Also, can a rebuilt OL provide a balanced running/passing game that will keep D's from loading 8 in the box...because if Holman doesn't have time...or the running game struggles, his "improvement" most likely won't show.
