I hope you are right. But this team is painfully terrible. Hapless at all levels. 0-12 book it. We will be lucky if we win 2 games next year. The program is in shambles and will take years to recover. The sky has fallen.
USF's much maligned offense just scored 45 points against P5 Syracuse. They have obviously improved enough to beat us handily this season.

USF is clearly better than us. Sucks, because we were on an roll. All of these teams that have been mediocre or bad are getting revenge on us.

And USF is going to love every minute of running it up on us to. That game is going to be painful.
I was just going to say that. It is a rivalry game. If the players stay motivated and improve, we should have a better team than we have now. Should get a few injured players back and Holman can shake off some of the rust.
Nothing looks promising even to the most optimistic person. It's a total knightmare

I haven't seen any improvement, It's one thing to lose they should at least be competitive. I blame the coaches.
USF is clearly a better team right now. But UCF's biggest hope is that we have more room for improvement in our very young and inexperienced players.
A lot of "sky is falling" people in here, but if the players can show some resilience and improve, we still have a chance to beat the Bulls.
We have some glaring weaknesses such as offensive line. But we were still leading South Carolina at halftime. UCONN's defense is supposedly decent and we made them look like swiss cheese on the first drive of the game. Then the entire offense stopped executing for some reason.

We did run the ball when we attempted it and we did burn them deep. However the pass was dropped or overthrown.

As much as it pains me to say this, there is no way in hell that we beat anyone this year. We are not beating USF. This team would have a losing record in the FCS. The talent is nonexistent. The fact that it is a rivalry will NOT substitute for ability to play football. These players would be lucky to be on any scout team. Recruiting missed big time the last couple of years. Recruiting has been a giant failure and this is the product. I don't think the coaching is as bad as many of you guys claim. These players are just too bad. Nick Saban can't win with these players. It is not debatable, however, that the coaches are responsible for recruiting and they failed miserably at that.
If we are injured more now than Furman at home, and we can't beat anyone, what could possibly make you think we could beat USF (who just beat Syracuse)? I thought I had the black and gold goggles on, WOW! Besides forfeiting all our games, what would you consider the "sky falling"?...just out of curiosity?
Square Knight, I have seen no flashes of hope. Leading a hapless South Carolina at halftime means nothing. We didn't make UConn's "defense look like Swiss cheese." We drove down the field on one drive and kicked a field goal. Our offense is garbage. We haven't even scored more than 20 points in a game this year (edit: we scored more than 20 against Tulane because they put their girfriends in the game in garbage time because they felt sorry for us). I hope it will get better but no high school caliber team will compete in the FBS. This team lacks talent at almost 20 out of 22 positions. I hope you are right and your optimism equals results but I have seen and played enough football to know that this team cannot compete at the FBS level this year. I hope next year we see improvement but I don't think we will for at least a couple more recruiting cycles. USF beats us by 21 points or more.

I guess that is true. Points in garbage time against Tulane's cheerleaders must be the "flash" of greatness the other poster was referring to. It is sad when Tulane feels sorry for you and puts in their scrubs.
You all can insist that we have NO talent all you want. You all can insist that not a single player has showed talent at any point during the season if you want. You are allowing your hatred and frustration to impair your judgement.
I didn't say we WOULD beat USF. I said that I have seen enough good things from a number of our FRESHMEN and other first year starters that we COULD beat USF. Believe it or not, sometimes players DO improve during the year. Believe it or not, sometimes players do stop making "freshman" mistakes after gaining some experience.
