Space Coast Knights getting out of dodge?

One thing's for sure. After everyone's evacuated, there'll still be one lone surfer testing out the big waves.

Im still in Cocoa Beach and plan on hitting the road at about 12 tomorrow. Going to the inlaw's condo in Orlando. My house might not be here when I get back bc I'm in what they currently think is ground zero. I was hoping this storm would stay a little offshore and just give me a little adventure and great surf on saturday but now that all seems so trivial considering my house could see cat 4 conditions. I live on a canal and really don't want to flood. I'm not sticking around unless it pushes a little offshore on the 8 am update.

Best of luck, man. Everyone stay safe!

Hope everything works out Jason. Quick question tho, if you wait til then will they even allow you to leave? Wouldn't all bridges be closed well before then?

Smart move. National Hurricane Center has Cocoa Beach and Ft. Pierce ranked one and two in probability of highest winds.

My wife saw this and thought I'd get a kick out of it. I'm reposting for everyone else's amusement

As a seasoned Floridian, adept at Hurricane preparedness, there are certain indicators I use to tell if a storm could be serious. For me there are Six Tiers to my level of concern. They are as follows:

First Tier: Grocery stores are out of bread and water. This is a rookie panic move. Not a ton of concern yet.

Second Tier: Schools are closed. Safe move, still not panicked. Work will probably be next.

Third Tier: Work is cancelled. Well, that makes sense since schools were closed. Maybe there's something to the storm. I'm now glad I bought bread and water.

Fourth Tier: Gas shortages. Ok, need to pay close attention. Gas shortages are serious. Glad I don't have to go to work.

Fifth Tier: Mandatory evacuations. This is nothing to joke about now. People need to move inland. Thankfully I'm inland with a tank full of gas, a day off from work, and a bunch of soggy bread.

Sixth Tier: Walt Disney World cancels events, evacuates areas of the parks, and refunds people their money. Shit just got real. We may actually die.

Now, there is a Seventh Tier. I don't like to mention it though because it usually means the finger of God is about to touch down in our state. You've been warned, here goes...

Seventh Tier: College football games are cancelled. I... I don't even know what to do at this point. It's the end times. Fend for yourself.

140,000 in Brevard without power...another 75,000 in Volusia without power and 27,000 in Seminole without power.

Seminole county here and thankfully still have power. How's it going for others?

I'm in Lake Mary and it's been flickering for a while. Then it went off for 2 minutes and came back on. I'm surprised it lasted this long.
