Special Olympics Funding Cut

You have to be a special level of asswagon to lack empathy for children, or the mentally or physically handicapped.
Today's republicans have, time and time again, demonstrated that level of assholery while claiming their Christian moral superiority.

Hey we've got a racist wall that will do nothing mostly funded, so that's cool! Who needs education with trump as prez.

Red Hat Republicans: Education? We don't need no stinking education!!! :)

LOL!!

Yea if we don’t fund this absurd federal monstrosity that does nothing for local education, how will our children learn??

Muh Educationz!!!

Will kids ever learn how to add and subtract if the Dept of Education didn’t exist?

Thank God we have you guys to remind us how vitally important federal bureaucracy is!!

:joy:

@Crazyhole are the kids you coach going to be impacted? That's a shame, but hey, we have tax cuts to pay for.
I haven't been a part of that for a few years and quite honestly I dont know how it will impact things on a national level. Locally, it won't make any difference because the staff consisted of the special ed teacher and volunteers. That won't change

Fab championing the end of the department of education is the most hilariously ironic thing ever. The guy who thinks the world is 6K years old wants to abolish education. I am shocked.

Just a reminder to the rest of you all, people like fab are allowed to vote. Terrifying.

That's exactly what DeVos is saying about Special Olympics. Screw those kids.
More disingenuous posting from you. So if it weren't for the Dept of Education, the Special Olympics wouldn't exist? I can tell you what the answer is if you don't know.

Racist wall...lol. let's tell that to every country with a boarder wall and Obama for his gate around his house. He should just let everyone in. What a racist!

He’s on the verge of calling you a racist and running away from this thread for good

Friendly reminder: if anyone on here so much as utters the word "retard" once, @UCFKnight85 will jump down their dick so fast it will make your head spin. He will relentless attack you, calling you a terrible person in every thread you post in, for months. One random person on the internet gets that much hate from him for saying one word.

The goddamn secretary of education cuts ALL federal funding for the Special Olympics, and he's ok with it. Because politics.

Just your daily reminder that 85 is a literal piece of human garbage and the biggest hypocrite on this board.

The right-wing's solution is to cut federal funding, because the Department of Education is a bloated waste of money. Let the state and local governments handle education without federal involvement. Our local education systems can't even afford to function WITH federal assistance, and they want less... well, as long as the white kids in their beautiful schools in gated communities don't lose any funding.

If only you had a brain, you'd realize that pumping $68B to a DC bureaucracy does NOTHING to improve location education. Neither at the State, County, City, or District level. It's an utterly stupid, braindead argument to claim that this $68B organization being run at the Federal level is somehow directly helping kids that need it in Orange or Pinellas counties.

Imagine if we finally shut this useless Department down and on a one-time basis, split up the funding it currently sucks down and distributed it to the States to be spent on education? What do you think would be better, the Dept of Education to suck down another $68B or every State getting a $1.36B direct injection of education funding to use as THEY see fit and as THEY know they need?

Again, I know you liberals are incapable of understanding this but I'll try anyways - there is no magic money that flows to the Federal Government in a separate, magical stream. That money is nothing more than money that has come out of each State. The decision simply becomes whether we stop sucking it from the STate and allow the money to stay there, or do we keep feeding it to the Dept of Education.

Evidently we have billions of dollars to waste on a pointless wall that will do nothing, but fuk those kids and 16 million, can't afford that.

Just wanted to bump this to remind everyone @UCFKnight85 is still the biggest hypocritical piece of shit on this board.

Private funding will step up for any funding decrease. Isn't that better having private money pay anyway?

If your idea is so good why don't Trump and the red states just do it? That's the slack jawed argument you tried to use on me yesterday in regard to healthcare.

The fact that you can't differentiate the 2 discussions/topics tells me you have your head wedged up your backside.

Another case of you believing completely false information with absolutely no factual support. Can you provide any support to your claim "that pumping $68B to a DC bureaucracy does NOTHING to improve location education?"

By the way... (only took about 30 seconds in Google searching to find facts)
Orange County has over $122 Million in federal funds allocated in their 2018-19 budget.
Pinellas County had over $118 Million in federal funds allocated in their 2016-17 budget.

Just amazing that the citizens are paying for the fat b_astard's golfing games and trips to palm beach......and we can't support the special Olympics. Lower the taxes on mega rich corporations.....but cut the special Olympics. There is no end to the republican madness and double standards. They truly are evil.

Yeah, talk about disingenuous, DeVos says "we simply can't afford Federal Funding for Special Olympics" but we can afford to put $20 million in Trump's proposed budget for a charity fronted by Donald's golf buddy, Jack Nicholas. Funny how this works.
Or for some useless wall.

There is no end to the republican madness and double standards. They truly are evil.

One of the things that the Republicans always do in power that, IMHO, never gets the press it should is regarding 'For Profit' higher education.

One of the roles of the Department of Education is to protect college students. Every institution - public or private - should have a right to offer its educational services to prospective students and receive federal funding in the form of student Pell Grants.

But common sense would tell you that if schools have huge student loan default rates, it's probably a reflection of either blatantly false advertising and/or poor instructional services. Most reputable colleges and universities have student loan default rates in the 3 to 5% range. When some schools -- particularly some of the sleezy non-profits schools out there -- report more of their students are defaulting than not, isn't that kind of a red flag?

But under DeVos, the Department has reversed an Obama policy and are now allowing ALL of these high student default rate non-profit schools to once again feed at the Government trough.

But, of course, let's make sure that those poor students who got screwed over by "learn in your jammies and get a great paying job in as little as 9 months" used-car-like advertising have their loans follow them like an anchor through life while the culprit is allowed to get richer scamming even more students.

It should be noted that Betsy DeVos's family business pumps millions of dollars into the special olympics via donations and fundraising.

LOL

So money comes from Florida taxpayers from these counties, goes to DC to the Dept of Education, is used to pay a small army of Federal workers a salary and benefits, and the scraps are then returned back to Florida to assist counties that would have been better off just keeping that money in the first place.

And you think THAT is a good example of Federal bureaucracy.

:joy:

This post is literally a massive deflection away from admitting that you are talking out of your ass. You presented an example that you thought made a good point, I destroyed it, and now you're posting worthless stuff like this.

What point of mine did you "destroy" exactly?
Please provide my quote that you "destroyed."

I quoted your post, specifically the first paragraph, that is 100% completely made up bullshit. I then provided you with the correct information that proves your quote was completely made up bullshit. Please do us all a favor and present your arguments in the same manner.

You gave me federal funding numbers from Pinellas and Orange counties as "evidence" of the great works the Dept of Education does on behalf of our local counties. I pointed out how dumb this argument is, since the Dept of Education is merely funded by money that is sucked out of the States and specifically from counties like Pinellas and Orange counties.

Pinellas taxpayers send DC $1 and they then return cents on that dollar as "federal assistance" to local schools, and you hail this as a victory and proof that we need the Dept of Education.

It's bullshit. The argument that we need a $68B Federal cabinet department to do what States and counties can already do better is bullshit.

You red hats should be applauding Trump’s DOE. We need to vigorously protect students’ Pell-Grant funded “freedom of choice” in institutions of higher learning to include sham ones like Trump University.
