1. Keene and Plumlee both played well, Keene’s end zone interception notwithstanding. The difference is
Plumlee is a capable thrower AND a dynamic runner, more of the dual threat QB Malzahn favors. My
opinion is Plumlee wins the job but Keene will also see the field.
2. We have an abundance of talented playmakers at WR and RB. Freshman Jordan McDonald is as big as
Bowser but faster. He is a physical, punishing back. Carry’s may be limited simply because position
is so deep this year.
3. TE Kemore Gamble looks like the big, physical TE we have been missing. Can catch and is not afraid of
contact. Expect him to supplant Holler and be the QB’s favorite security blanket.
4. Lee Hunter is a big man but do not expect him to start. Appears he has a conditioning issue as his
pass rush lacked intensity. If he dedicates himself to getting in shape during the summer and figures
out what it takes to play at this level he may well prove me wrong. He has the potential to be a major
space eater on D.
5. This may be a breakout year for DE Landon Woodson. He physically reminds me of former Miami
Dolphins Hall of Famer Jason Taylor. If he finds Taylor’s motor he could be a QB nightmare.
In summary, we have playmakers all over the field on offense. Need more depth at LB. DB’s should
be solI’d, same for OL. If we stay healthy this could be a very special season.
