Spurrier announces freshman QB as starter against UCF

South Carolina will start its third quarterback in four games Saturday. This time it’s true freshman Lorenzo Nunez, who the Gamecocks hope will provide a spark after two consecutive defeats.

“I think it’s the first true freshman quarterback I’ve ever started, but that’s just where we are right now,” head coach Steve Spurrier said. “Lorenzo gives us a little spark maybe we need offensively.”

ugggg again....

"
In just two games, Nunez has shown just how dangerous he can be as a runner. The former 4-star recruit is South Carolina's No. 3 rusher so far this season, going 116 yards on just 12 carries.

Against Georgia, he had a 17-yard run to open South Carolina's first touchdown drive, and he ran for 39 yards on four straight plays to punch in a score of his own in the fourth quarter.

According to Ben Breiner of the State, Nunez got 23 snaps against Georgia, and 18 of them were running plays. Nunez was a versatile runner against the Bulldogs, getting carries on triple-options, read-options and draws."

If you don't have a qb, your team will suck, no matter if it is full of upperclassmen or loadecwith talent. For a school like south carolina "sucking" is 5-7 or 6-6. Even teams like south carolina suffer. Hiring a coach (and not necessarily the head coach) that can develop a stream of QBs is where you need to spend the money on coaching. Everything else will fall in line after that.

Lol look at all the South Carolina players injured and replaced. Time for their talented young recruits to feast on a bunch of NGEs.

On the contrary, our DL and linebackers have been doing quite well, keep offenses under 17...Stanford excluded
Yes, a shitty FCS offense and an even shittier FBS offense.

This team is garbage, there's no depth, coaching sucks, strength and conditioning is obviously lacking if you consider all of the substantial amount of injuries.

This team deserves an 0-12 season because they're playing like a team that can't win shit.

Well if you put it that way...100% agreed.

Let him throw all day. We have athletic
LBs. Give the freshman a dose of what we have been getting.

This was so much the year to be these guys on their own turf. Wish we at least had Holman and Akins.

Ugh!!!!!

Geeez. WTH. A bit different than 2013

Doubt Bo is going to light them up for 500 yards because of THIS.

Well, they have SEC caliber players and they have a huge stadium and fan base. They have a huge advantage, with everything else being equal.
