Whether theyre good or bad Stanford can beat up on non-AQ now G5 teams...well at least once the separation of the AQ vs non-AQ schools showed its affect in 2001. Whats interesting is that Mountain West TCU beat them on back to back years in 2007 and 2008. Not trying to be cynical nor am i trolling but does our team have any talent or advantages those TCU teams had or will we be another San Jose State or Army on their schedule.

Ah...do you know what kind of a program Stanford was back in 2007?

Hint: Stanford went 1-11, fired their coach, and brought in some guy from a tiny program named Jim Harbaugh.

Stanford went 4-8 in 2007 and Harbaugh didn't really explode on the scene till 2010 when they went 12-1.

Stanford today doesn't resemble anything that they had back in 2006-2008.

Phil Steele thinks Stanford can make the biggest moves in the polls (starting outside Top 25), as their 5th year QB is expected to shine...and he might already be drooling over UCF's new starting 4 in the secondary.

UCF's D will have their hands full at Stanford but if UCF can some how control the clock, keep UCF's D fresh, yeah, they will have a chance (maybe not a great one) but that's why you play the game.

The Pac 12 is never really known for their defense, although Stanford may be an exception. According to ESPN, Stanford is returning only 2 starters from their defense last year that was best in their conference. They are returning none of their D-linemen. If we can find a way to run the ball and if we do not give up more than a couple big plays to Hogan on the other side of the ball, I don't see why we couldn't be around in the 4th quarter with a chance to pull off the upset.

Stanford will be a big favorite and should be. West coast trip is always tough. I actually wish this was game one vs game 2. First game leads to more upsets than game 2.

The two years TCU beat them Stanford was still able to beat the other non-AQ teams on their schedule at the time...regardless how bad they were. Since we're supposed to be amongst the top of the G5, i'd like to think we need to beat this team to further separate ourselves from our competition perception wise (for expansion talks)....instead of being perceived as another warm up team for them like San Jose State.

There is more parity in football than most ever will admit. With that, I don't expect to win.

We will be in the game, just like we have been against other powerful P5 teams such as South Carolina and Ohio State. That will give us a chance. Even replacing some key areas of our team, we are good enough to hang with anyone, and even dominate (like we did in the Fiesta Bowl) if we happen to be firing on all cylinders.

Only way we win this game is if Holman proves to be better than advertised. Give all the credit you want to Storm, the WRs, the D, everybody for the 2013 season, but if other teams knew exactly how good B-Twice was, the outcome would've been very different.

Justin Holman has a chance to make a name for himself by the end of week 3. Let's hope he takes advantage of that chance.

It would have been nice to have the same D-line that we were expecting to begin the season with but we had 2 key loses.
Stanford is returning a good offensive line, backs, receivers and their QB is a senior. I expect them to move the ball on us as it's only the second game of the season.
However, I think that we will be able to move it on them with Holman and Stanback. Anything is possible.

Do we have a chance?

Please, we always have a chance. If app state can beat down Michigan, we always have a chance. Mind you we are based in the most talent rich state in the country. With the downfall of USF we are getting some of the top athletes out of the state (no knock on GA, or LA) . Tie that with a pretty little bow from a head coach who was on his way to ND, we 100% have a chance.

I love this team, we are going to surprise a lot of ppl.

I'm looking forward to a good game. I'll let our boy handle them on the field, and not add any more pressure. They know to win, and I'll just watch them do so.

Key on offense will be not whether our OL can match up physically with the man in front of them, but whether they can shift assignments on the fly when Stanford executes line shifts and blitzes to get angles of attack.

The key on defense will be whether our LB's can get off blocks and make tackles in the run game. Stanford will use heavy formations to get hats on our DL and our LB's must excel at cleaning up. Kevin Hogan is a game manager who excels at not making mistakes, but he is no Blake Bortles.

I think we win a tight one. Low scoring grind it out game that won't excite the proles but will be beautiful to those who understand the game.

The last time we played a PAC 10 was ASU, maybe at over 10 yrs ago when we had Schneider. The Sun Devils at the time were a bottom dweller and they still racked up at least 45 against us. Not feeling so good on the time zone change for us.

If we dont let them get a running start we have a chance. Can't play catchup from get go...let the game plan provide the outcome, not whats happening decide the game plan. We have the athletes, they have the scholars. Hopefully athleticism beats brains on this night.

That game you're referring to was played in 2002. Although we did have maybe 5 or 6 guys from that team who were eventually drafted by the NFL, I don't think you can really compare the overall talent level of that UCF team to the 2015 version. With that said, Stanford will likely have a very good team that could compete for a PAC-12 title, so we'd damn well better bring our A-game.
