So 0% death rate*.

Yeah I don’t personally know anyone that died but my social circle is in the 30-40 age range. One friend was hospitalized and wife was in ICU on a vent. No real concern for my own safety, but safety of older family members (parents in 60s, grandfather in 80s) who are in the high risk groups and we interact with as they want to see their grandchildren.

Why should we take this seriously? Dr. Knighttime said this was just the sniffles. Donald said we don’t have to fear it at all because we can get drugs to treat it that were tested using cells from an abortion. Seems like it’s just a massive hoax.

Or wear a mask and socially distance like you’re supposed to. Remember how the president was such a fine example of this?
I just saw a story where 2 kids, one in high school and one in college, lost both parents and grandparents in a few months. They have no other immediate family.

It is the flu, Death rates are similar, Yes people need to take precautions, but if you still work for a living, Being locked up is not a real option. Try to maintain a safe distance when possible, wear a mask in public buildings, and enjoy life as much as possible. Be smart, cautious, but not afraid.

I don't see the flu taking out entire families in a month.

We created mass hysteria over a virus that isn't very deadly unless you're old or have underlying health issues.
It was obvious from the very beginning. The situation always warranted taking proper precautions and having a deliberate and measured response. Unfortunately, the hysteria made that impossible almost anywhere.

The perfect example was the toilet paper shortage. There was no reason that anyone needed to stock up on TP and certainly not enough to create the shortages that occurred. But mass hysteria drove irrational demand to the detriment of most. Fear is a hell of a motivator and people as a whole are stupid. It’s a bad combination.

Flu kills like 50k-60k a year and there is a vaccine. Nobody bats an eye. I feel like we risk doing a shutdown over everything in the future.
Nothing is shutdown. This "shutdown" talk is nonsense. Capacity has been limited and certain high touch industries (hair, gym, salon) have had to temporarily close but everything is open. We can do everything that we were doing at this time last year.

Tell that to the 20 percent of all workers in the industries affected and to the supply chain for those that have gone out of business. Even in the auto industry, you're having supply chain issues because smaller manufacturers of parts have gone out of business.

"Our analysis shows that a large number of jobs are in sectors directly affected by the shutdowns enacted to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. All told, about 20 percent of all employees work in the most exposed sectors identified by Vavra. The proportion of jobs in the shutdown sectors is particularly high in Nevada, Hawaii, Florida, and South Carolina, states that rely heavily on tourism. Besides affecting employment in these jobs, the shutdown orders have indirect impacts on sectors that provide inputs to the directly affected sectors.7 The longer the shutdown continues, the greater its cumulative direct and indirect effects.

We also find that occupations with lower wages are more common in the shutdown sectors than elsewhere in the economy and that higher paying jobs are less common in those sectors. Consequently, shutdown policies disproportionately affect workers in lower paying jobs."

Some of the impact to sectors like automobiles was unavoidable no matter the actions taken short of not informing the public of the pandemics existence. I believe the original point was there isn’t much “shut down” at this point. As in things that are explicitly banned. Some specific businesses shut down. Whether they could have survived the pandemic even if there were the loosest of measures implemented is certainly debatable.

Just wanted to update.. My Uncle lost his Battle. He was cremated. His ashes will be given to family in a Week. Rest In Peace Uncle. Also, my Aunt was on a respirator. This was hidden from the family because she has diabetes and needs Kidney dialysis She was not expected to survive. She is no longer on a ventilator and is making a full recovery........This Virus is no joke...We have had Flu hit family before, but this Virus impacts you more.A few who had virus are getting it again. This strain of Virus is stronger and deadlier
