After getting familiar again with SMU, eating lunch near campus and a quick photo op at the Big 12 HQ, I decided to head over to Fort Worth to see TCU again. I had driven over here in 2017, but because there was a football game the next day the stadium was on lockdown. Since TCU is on the road tomorrow, I thought maybe I could get inside. I was correct as it was wide open.
The stadium is beautiful, large and kind of quirky. They had some weird covering over the grass, not sure what was up with that. The prime lower seating on the home side is kind of quirky, you have a seat, tons of legroom and then a tabletop ledge with cupholder. There are also random rows that have extreme legroom. It'll be fun to see a game here in the near future.
The athletic department building and basketball area are basically connected to football. The arena lobby has a Hall of Fame exhibit and museum. UCF really needs something like this.
There's an upscale neighborhood literally behind the stadium and I'm assuming it was Gary Patterson's hood. Almost every house has a yard sign that reads, "Thank You, Gary" and many houses flooded their yard with signs or larger banners. If you recall, longtime head coach Gary Patterson was recently fired. He had been the second-longest tenured coach in FBS after Iowa's Kirk Ferentz.
Here's the full photo gallery and I'll post a few below.
