Terrence Lewis 5* transfer to UCF

Still wish Bethune stayed. Known quantity. A beast, and may yet still get better.

I wonder how physically healthy this kid actually is. I guess we’ll find out. Even if it really takes next year for the kid to get straightened-out, he still has 3 years after that so definitely worth the scholarship slot based on talent alone.

Lewis has the kind of speed you love in a LB. The guy can fly around the field. Boom!

I’m cautiously optimistic about Lewis, but certainly not celebrating as much as some others. There are legitimate red flags here…

-UCF will be his fourth school in the last three years. Are there maturity issues (I’ve read a lot of rumors/whispers about Lewis, but I don’t validate Internet rumors that I don’t know for certain are true)?
-The kid has played in just six football games since the end of the 2019 season (his junior year).
-How is his knee? His entire game seems predicated on possessing elite speed. He’s rather small for a LB. If his knee isn’t 100%, will he still be able to run at an elite level?

Lewis is still a really solid long-term get. If he can be on the field contributing by the time UCF gets to the Big12, that’s huge. I’m just saying, I’m not willing to go as far as some on Twitter already are-claiming he will slide right in for Bethune at MLB next season. This kid is no savior in the immediate future, if you’re being honest with yourself.

I'm confused. What I read on the post from Brandon says he is class of 2021 and went to Maryland. How can he be on his fourth school? A freshman thats 6'1 can't be that small? What am I missing?

I have a theory about these 5 star transfers that havent seen the field. Gatewood, Jordan Johnson from anotre Dame, Winbush, etc:
So many of these kids have been told their entire football career how they are an elite 5 star prospect. Then they get passed on depth chart because presumably theyre getting outworked by the undersized 3 stars.
Remember Trystan Payton a few years ago? Huge 4 star talent…buried on depth chart behind 2-3 star recruits. No doubt these kids are physically gifted to be ranked so high. Im just waiting for one or two of them to show us (and the coaching staff) why they are an elite recruit.

He he moved around a lot in high school. Miami Northwestern his sophomore year and junior seasons (2018 season, 2019 season). Then things got weird…In 2020 he transferred to Chaminade, then back to Northwestern, then ended up at Miami Central (hence, only played in six games).

Now, obviously Maryland (early enrolled in Spring 2021) to UCF.

And yes, 200 lbs is not small for like…a regular college freshmen. You are right. But it’s a little light for an FBS starting middle linebacker. Someone on here a couple days ago was arguing with me saying Bethune was too small to play LB (he’s not), and Bethune has 20-30 lbs on this young man.

From what I have read he wanted to commit to Auburn out of HS but Gus and T Will got fired. He then committed to Tennessee but then Pruitt got fired. He then signed with Maryland (not sure what transpired to make him transfer). He is now with UCF and looks like he is playing with the coaches that he wanted to be with in the first place.
I don’t see him playing MLB, I see him being a perfect fit for the hybrid LB/S position that Armstrong played.

That's one possibility. Sometimes it's other factors. Maybe the QB coach isn't a good match with the QB. Maybe the player gets caught up in the wrong crowd. Maybe family stresses affect them.

That makes more sense on the school front. Listed at 200lbs coming out of high school doesn't worry me as much. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Gus and T-Will are infinitely more qualified to judge talent than I am and they recruited him for Auburn and now they want him here. Other than a non-diagnosed ACL, the signs point in the right direction for this young man.

A lot depends on his recovery and ability to not reinjure. Torn ACL and a shoulder that required surgery is quite a bit of adversity to deal with as a teenager.

Exactly what I was thinking Matt! He had major surgery correct?
