Terry Rooney - Clemson Baseball Coaching Candidate

Could be a case of careful what you wish for. For people on both sides of the Rooney wagon.

Possibly. We certainly have no idea how good of a "hiring manager" Stansbury is. But our baseball program is treading water under Rooney, and at a mediocre level. I would welcome a change.

Typical for UCF...our coaches perform mediocre...and we don't know whether to fire and possibly rebuild OR, hope the coach gets better. In this case I don't see Rooney getting the talent we need. Proven to be this way. JMHO

Great recruiter, but not getting a whole lot out of it. To not make the NCAA tournament when FIU, FAU, USF, and Florida A&M, all make it, is completely unacceptable at this point.

Florida A&M got in the Regionals via the MEAC automatic bid, not because they had an impressive season. But its still unacceptable for us to have only been to the Regionals twice in 7 years under Rooney and just 3 times over the last 12 years overall.

Who would be candidates to replace TR if...he gets the Clemson Baseball job?
JJ the coach at Chipola CC was the primary choice among alot of supporters. He is a UCF alum. Was a closer for Knights many years ago. Problem will be no D 1 experience so we will try to splash a big name. Tried that FAILED. Some of the most successful coaches come from small backgrounds. Whoever he must hire a pitching coach. Rooney failed because his ego thought he could do both. Another EPIC FAIL.

Practically every single successful coach at a high level onced coached at a much lower level at one time...so that statement is probably true for 99% of all successful coaches at the top level.

No guarantee that a coach with HC experienced at a similar level (or lower) will be more successful than a top asst from a high level.

Only thing I want is for baseball to be successful "most years", regardless who is coaching them.

Unless you believe in the Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria's philosophy the we can just have our AD manage the team...

Sure, splash on a big name, he uses the players we have now to succeed and leaves for a bigger name school the next year, ala footballs Dennis Erickson did to Idaho.

Coach Graham from Rice came from a Junior College. He just is the true definition of SUCCESS
