As it stands, the Knights will likely have a new head coach identified by the time they play in the final game.

One of the qualities that separated White from UCF's other AD candidates is that he has extensive experience in identifying coaching talent. White was at Buffalo for 31/2 years and changed coaches in 10 different sports, including football and basketball.

White made what the Buffalo News called "the most high-profile athletics hire in UB's history by naming Bobby Hurley head men's basketball coach in 2013." Although Hurley, a former Duke University star player, stayed at Buffalo for only two seasons, he led the Bulls to a school-first NCAA Tournament last March before accepting a job at Arizona State.

More importantly for UCF fans, White conducted a football-coaching search at Buffalo just last season and has vetted many of the same candidates UCF is likely pursuing.

"I think it's a big advantage that I've very recently assessed the market [for potential coaches]," White said.

2. If we weigh the success had by White with hiring Hurley heavily then we can expect someone like that to be greatly considered for football position. Hence, the chatter about Chris Weinke although I'm not hoping for that.
3. Hire by next week sounds too good to be true but what the fan base desires real bad. White can get this done in November and return to Buffalo for one last month.

Note the key word, "identified." I think all Bianchi is saying is that he thinks John Hitt and Danny White will know by Thanksgiving who their first choice is. Signing the guy and announcing the pick would come later than that, of course.

That timeline doesn't seem realistic and they would never hire a HC and announce it before the regular season is over. If they have a final 2-3 identified and talked through back channels it would be have to be someone that is not a top candidate at Scar, Vtech, or Mizzou that would be willing to accept so early. For example Cristbal being a former player at Miami may not want to accept the UCF offer if Miami really wants him
