Instead of scattering your apologies for the attacks that you've made on me throughout the years, I felt it was more efficient to consolidate such into one thread. I hate to tell you that "I told you so" but I did many many years ago. The collapse was coming and it would be devastating to the program if we did not make a change. Now you huggers can line up and kiss the ring. K_L first.

What is your definition/criteria for "going really bad"? Right now most of the opinions I see on here ( and l'm not pointing this at you directly) are never defined by any hard numbers. It's mostly nebulas. My criteria for "going bad" are pretty simple and don't get mired in minutiae : 1) two losing seasons in a row 2) not regularly competing for the conference title. I'll live with everything else in between. Every program has periods of struggle, including UF, FSU, and Miami. One bad season in a row does not constitute "struggle" for me.

You can go to football outsiders and look at FEI and SP+ to see how bad the program is. Or go read a Bill C column on football study hall and see where UCF ranks.

"Every team has periods of struggle, including..." The difference is they tend to tolerate losing much less than UCF. With one winning season or bowl win, we say, "Yay! Here's $$$$. Here's an extension to your contract." Let's make it nearly impossible to get rid of you because of the $$$$ we give you with a contract extension.

Even the commentator last night was trying to justify GOL's continued UCF head coach existence. "GOL's been with UCF 12 years. You don't stay somewhere that long without some level of success." That might be a true statement EXCEPT at UCF. Not enough passion and power from the right people to make a stand to get rid of this guy. So, here we are.
