"5. Don’t forget about UCF.
The 12th-ranked Knights (4-0) have quietly run their two-year winning streak to a current FBS-best 17 games. On Saturday, McKenzie Milton’s squad treated overmatched Pitt exactly the way you’d expect from a defending national champion, crushing the Panthers 45-14.

But October brings conference play, most notably an Oct. 13 trip to 3-2 Memphis, which took one on the chin at Tulane on Friday, 40-24, but has not lost a regular-season home game since 2016.

I bring this up mostly to remind you what awaits on the second-to-last day of October: the first selection committee rankings. UCF could be at 20 in a row by Oct. 30, at which point maybe — just maybe — it can crack the top 10."
