The Basketball Infant: Tacko Fall

That was a great article.

He needs to get fed the ball on very possession he is in the game. Especially for these early "pick-up" games.

If we force it to him he won't shoot 80%. He is still way to raw offensively. We need ball movement right now to get him open close to basket or like most times he gets rebounds and putbacks.

nice read, he has improved a lot in a year. If he continues that, he could be a special player for us the next 2 years.

Getting him the ball also opens up outside shooters like Williams...as Tacko has already matched his assist total from last year (10).

Problem with the Penn game is that most of those guarding him were a foot shorter and without BJ and with AJ's struggles coming back from his injuries...Tacko went almost 18 mins in the 2nd half without ONE TOUCH of the ball...and that can't happen.

Tacko is improving his ability to fight for the low block (which he never had to do in HS in his "church" league), because if he gets the ball within 5 ft of the hoop...he is virtually unstoppable.

Tacko "should" touch the ball at least once on most of UCF's possessions...something Dawkins said they had to work on after the Penn loss.

I rarely see him fight for position. Seems like he just floats from block to block.

Point is he has improved and while he still has a long way to go...his improvement has lead to him being open...which frustrated Marc Daniels and Taylor Young were screaming about during the Penn game when Tacko's teammates couldn't get him the ball, even when he was basically wide open.

Today's game the team took those suggestions thanks of course to the coaching staff working on these issues. He had a zillion touches vs. Miami and went 11-12. When they tried hack a shack, he shot 75% (9-12)! It really helps to have a point guard in there so the offense has time to set up, especially when Matt is having an off game. Once BJ can play again, this will be a formidable team.

Tacko may set an NCAA record career and season before he's drafted in Spring. He can develop his offensive moves (which he's occasionally shown off for us in games) once he gets to the pros.
