Shaquil Griffin- stepped up today and played a nice game. You could tell he wanted a win badly today.

D.J. Killings- also played well at cornerback. Why he only started because of Boykins being out with an injury is beyond me. Killings is a good cornerback..he was always effective for us last year when he saw the field..I really don't understand why he isn't penciled in as the #2 CB at least.

T.J. Mutcherson-That guy was all over the field giving up his body..whether it was recovering fumbles or making nice open field tackles..he's by far a better option than the other Boykins twin at safety. Why he hasn't seen much action until recently is also beyond me. He's probably our best defensive player.

Jamiyus Pittman- although we were abused by Temple's running game..Pittman is not at fault. Our other linemen are not getting it done..and our linebackers are below average. I don't know if I'm the only one who has noticed it, but Pittman hustles his ass off downfield and even catches up to a RB and makes the tackle on a screen pass or any other short pass before our linebackers do at times.

Chuck Bresnahan- actually called a pretty good game..dialed up some nice blitzes and the defense did enough to win us the football game..the personnel (especially at LB) is not ideal

Bad
Thomas Niles- so glad you've shown up this season..won't say anymore

Run Defense- just poor all around..we make average AAC RB's look like All-Americans constantly

WR's- try getting open..please? Make someone miss...

Brent Key- not awful play calling given the circumstances, but not enough to win us ballgames

Ugly
George O'Leary- This guy sets a game plan and will NEVER deviate from it...ADJUST, ADJUST, ADJUST! Justin Holman was clearly not ready to go today..Justin Holman is at worst an average D1 QB..Personally I think he's an above average QB. That finger injury, and having to wear a glove all the time has completely messed him up. His confidence is shot. For Holman to throw for 70 yards on 30+ attempts is uncharacteristic. We needed to take him out halfway through the 3rd at the latest..When he's ready to take the glove off, I want him back out there. Tyler Harris or Bo Schneider haven't gotten it done, but they would've given us a better chance to win that game tonight. The offense was pathetic. Holman couldn't complete basic passes tonight..even Harris/Schneider would've completed some of those curls/slants with ease..once again Holman isn't healthy. We scored 16 points today. 7 off of a pick six and 6 more points off of turnovers. We had 1 legit drive where we scored 3 points on our own. 3 points! You can't keep Holman in the game!

And for the love of god..try a trick play! Fake punt, reverse pass, something! There's nothing to lose at this point. If it goes wrong..so be it. It can't turn out any worse than our normal offense that's for sure.

Offensive Line- Won't even go into details like I have in previous posts. They are simply not good enough..even with 2-3 years of experience down the road..Time to hit up JUCO players and potential graduate transfers immediately

**Probably the worst part of the night was going to Duffy's sports bar (about 2-3 miles from UCF) expecting to see UCF on a few TV's. Out of 50 or so TV's there was 1 TV with the UCF game on...it was all the way in the back corner and nobody gave a shit. It was as if the game wasn't even going on. The other 49 TV's were on the UF game. I wanted to puke it was disgusting. This country is full of front runners it makes me sick..**

Holman gave us nothing today, the WRs aren't Division 1 quality and I hear
you on the fact that the game was on 1 TV. I watched it at home for that reason. It's like UCF football in the 1990's. Very sad.

Looking more and more like GOL will step down soon or after the last game.

Watched both the Ohio State game and the UCF game last night. I realized what a huge disparity there is in coaching between GOL and Meyer. You always feel like Meyer is going to make the right call and adjustment every time, with GOL, sadly it's the complete opposite.

Kind of tough to compare a school like OSU with an unlimited budget and UCF. You can simply do more things when you get the top talent every year. They won the national championship with their 3rd string QB who'd never started before the first playoff game.

I'm not a fan of the coaching staff but if you're comparing UCF to OSU you're going to be forever sad.

He was comparing coaches...not schools...and even classified that was unfair...though it's not

Jones started the B1G championship game.

Nice reading comprehension and college football knowledge fail.

I expected someone would tell me I shouldn't be comparing a tiny little program like UCF to big old Ohio State. Good grief. I have been a UCF fan before many on this board were even born and I will continue to be a UCF fan. It was just an observation Bubba about the coaches decision making. Good decisions and bad decisions are made at the Pop Warner and the NFL level.

Ideally a new AD will be hired by game 9 or 10 and GOL will announce his retirement then. The sooner the AD can start a search the better. I say this as an GOL supporter, I think he was good for UCF, but recruiting usually gets hurt when coaches hit 70, and that is next year. Hopefully Hitt finds a gem in an AD and the AD hires a diamond of a head coach.

I give the coaches and players credit yesterday, They played hard and didn't give up against a pretty good Temple team, even led at the end of 3/4 which is an improvement. Last week it was receivers dropping balls, this week Holman could not throw. If they would both simply play mediocre we could steal a win.

I'm making an observation about your observation. Good grief. You can't compare the two because OSU is dealing with a much higher level of talent. I don't think Urban Meyer would look as good as he is with this team -- I suspect he'd do far better than GOL but we'd still be bad.

Where did he mention anything was unfair? LOL! I'm the one with the reading comprehension fail?

Sorry I got the facts wrong on Jones. He played THREE games not two. He's still their 3rd string QB. Of all the crap on this board, that is what constitutes a "football knowledge fail"?

Really cause Meyer seemed to coach just as well at bowling green and Utah with less resources than UCF

Don't disagree. I'm saying you put Meyer as coach of this team right now. No new recruiting, no time to build.

Can you guys get past the name calling and reading comprehension comments? This is actually an interesting conversation. One I tend to agree that certain coaches are better at "extracting" talent from players, where others can't. Urban Meyers has succeeded at all levels of CFB (from BG to OSU). Why is that? Is it how Meyers was taught to coach, or was it his personality, or both? Hopefully whoever we choose as AD knows these answers. This will be a critical hire for our program.

In the past we've had coaches on the staff at UCF that have done a better job extracting talent. That's my biggest issue with the current staff -- I think they've lost the team. Once that happens it makes it pretty tough.

Each of these will result in points the other way.

I would prefer adding a new rule to college FB that allows a team to award 6 points to their opponent so they do not have to run a gimmick play. At least that way we don't get more people injured.

I'll give a little on Breshnehan on the defensive calling but this 1950's football from GOL is just obviously and blatantly terrible. It just amazes me we are paying this kind of money to see this sh#t. You have nothing to lose this season....my god.....take a risk, try a trick play. WTF do we practice all week?
