1. The best thing one can say about this game is that it’s better than losing. That, and that it ended 20 minutes earlier than usual…

2. Good defense in the first half, but we settled for easy shots rather than work hard for the better score. Only PJ, Josh and sometimes Isaiah did.

3. It was the Kasey Wilson show tonight, scoring on an early 3, and 5 (FIVE!) dunks. Had a blocked shot, too. He’s really becoming a reliable contributor.

4. Coming out of halftime the team executed the offense much more crisply. Marcus was the chief beneficiary, scoring four additional 3’s after 1 in the 1st half.

5. #2 for the PBA Fightin’ Sailfish was a pretty good PG. Feisty (without being obnoxious), and their leading scorer.

6. Not a bad crowd, but 3rd smallest of the year. And the opponents didn’t lend themselves to a frenzied crowd, either.

7. So we’re up by 28 with 6min to go, Donnie understandably empties the bench. 3 minutes later we’re up by 12. Donnie un-empties the bench…

8. Halftimes during the lamentable Chuck Machock, Phil Carter and Joe Dean eras were marked by adolescent lads grabbing basketballs from the rack and showing off their “skills.” The last 3 game halftimes have featured pre-pubescent cheerleader and dance team wannabees.

9. AJ gets 2 quick fouls in the first half. He gets a foul and a T quickly in the 2nd. Non-factor in the game.

10. Celebrities: a very gracious fan pic and autograph signing Bruce Miller, Darius Nall, Share’ed Rhashad (spelling apologies), and former UCF recruit and UF signee Dillon Graham

11. Four behind the back passes tonight - only one doesn’t result in a TO.

12. To those who questioned why we scheduled this game, I submit that it was that the PBA coaching staff wooed Boone High School 2G Matt Roy with the promise that he’d be able to play in front of his family during his career (/extreme sarcasm). He scored 11 points and had a T.

13. Don’t want to look past a very tough SMU game on Saturday, but our next home game is Marshall. The announced theme for the game is “Beach Party!!”, highlighting the Herd’s whining about The Arena’s oppressive temperature last year. Beach Party. Knight Moves. Mind Boggles.

I've been telling my boyfriend (who got me into UCF sports and is always on here) for a while now to keep his eye on Wilson, I think for being a true freshman he's really got potential, without being too cocky about it. The post-game radio interview was great- he sounded like his head was right where it needed to be to grow with the team and when we lose some key players at the end of this season, I think he's really going to emerge as a big asset for us next season. I'm excited to see what he brings in his second year.
It sucked that the crowd was so small and I think towards the end when it felt more like a scrimmage than a game, there was a lot of enthusiasm lost among the crowd.
Still, I'm looking forward to the next game- let's solidify why Marshall's coach should have stuck to acting, since that seems to be his forte.

oh, and can we get a giant cardboard cutout of a defibrillator in case Sykes get anywhere near him again?

Lose the BF. A woman with your basketball acumen needs to be hooked up with McKnight Lad #2. I can set this up - this is just between you and me...
