1. It was a fun event (dragged a little), but you can’t really tell too much about the team from it, especially shooting. Basically ran some warm up drills, then some fan friendly events. Maybe a couple of individual observations, though.

2. Kasey Wilson is an effortless leaper, and already has a D-I body (as do Rod Days and Wayne Martin). He won the dunk contest by slamming it home over a seated Keith Clanton, winning the WWE-esque belt.

3. The timeout/halftime announcer from 2 seasons ago is back. No comment.

4. Jeff Jordan inherited his father’s leaping ability more than Marcus did.

5. Let’s just say that David Stern is a micro-managing, meddling jerk!

6. Isaiah Sykes has shorn his dreads.

7. Celebrity sightings ? JMY, David Diakite, UCF HOFer Mike Clark and the Clarkettes, and Keith Tribble (!). And because it’s becoming routine, I had to remember to add MJ.

8. I like the t-shirts they handed out. UKnight Madness logo on the front, men’s & women’s home schedules on the back.

9. Play of the night #1 - AJ (no longer Small with AJ Tyler’s graduation) hits a turnaround, final money ball 3 from behind the basket (assist by KT) to win the 3-Point Championship, complete with WWE-esque belt.

10. Among the list of All-County Athlete honorees inscribed upon the walls of the Liberty Middle School gymnasium are Keith Clanton (Boys Basketball) and - Casey Anthony (Girls Volleyball).

11. 1800-2000 fans there tonight, including the pep band and the Spirit Squad. The Knight Moves squad is already in mid-season form, and there’ll be a lot of fan favorites!!

12. Play of the night #2 - Dwight McCombs hits a shot from half-court to win the 4-ball contest by 1-second (no WWE-esque belt). If he takes a shot outside of 10 feet during the regular season Donnie will have his butt!

13. Josh Crittle is trimmer and toned. Wayne Martin shows no sign of his Achilles injury. AJ does look heftier. Keith looks more fit.

14. It’s BASKETBALL season!!

Nice report as always. Thanks Mr.McKnight!!

This season is going to be great.

First off...you know there is a slight change in the weather that always brings excitement of the coming season...as one of the best times of the year is when you see the first time "The Hoops Report" pop up on your screen.
Here's a photo from a newspaper article last year of Kasey Wilson when he committed to UCF in Feb 2010 (Photo code says July 09...as it could have been an AAU Photo prior to the start of his Junior Season):

The Kasey Wilson on the court last night seem to be 25-30 lbs stronger than the one in the photo above...and as Hoops said...he can jump/fly with ease.

Also, glad to see Martin (who injured his Achilles heel during his senior season) was also jumping/dunking with ease.

As DJ noted in his radio interview the other day with Daniels, UCF won't necessarily have a stand out 3 pt only specialist (like Sosa and he mentioned Humphrey from his UF teams) but this team is bigger, faster, more athletic than last years.

Also, while Sykes was "built" muscle-wise for so than any incoming freshmen in recent years (if ever), it looked last night like he is more solid, filled out, which might help him more when he attacks the basket (hopefully more "and 1's" vs 2 FT's).

It was a fun event...half court shots were great (balls flying everywhere but with each "team" making one), and can't wait to see what this team can do during a real scrimmage/game (Only preseason game is on Saturday, Nov 5th!).

Hopefully this week, DJ can start calling up potential recruits and tell them about our upcoming BIG EAST OPPONENTS!!!!

Many schools of thought. One says he enrolls in Jan, another says he's here in Summer B. He could go anywhere he wants, but he says we're his choice, period.
