The Las Vegas (public tax money) Raiders

I sincerely hope the taxpayers tell these assholes to shove their demands straight up their ass and say NO.

Las Vegas getting both an NHL team and now possibly an NFL team. It might not be so bad to live their afterall. At this rate UNLV will be P5 in no time!

Yea, let's see if they get support. Most people in Vegas are either there temporarily to work or there really temporarily to gamble and party. No allegiance to the city and there are 2,000,000 other things to do there than go to a game. Might be cool for whatever visiting fans happen to be in town but I doubt there will be any "local" support since there are barely locals there.

See, when I FIFY, the argument changes.

HUH?

Orlando and Vegas are nothing alike. Orlando is a massive growing metro area that people are moving into to start families, attend UCF, work in various industries, and put down roots that could last decades. The theme parks are just a part of what Orlando is.

Vegas is simply a speck in the desert that was literally invented for gambling and getting people to pass through and leave.

Yet, Vegas generates gazillions of all the monies. Remember that at one point, Orlando was a speck in the middle of a swamp that was generated for people to come visit and leave. Major investment changes triggered what Orlando is now, which Vegas can do as well and probably faster since there's nothing but available land to do so.

Ehhh, you're reaching. Orlando has water / ports within a couple hours which helps business/industry growth. Vegas has nothing nearby.

it's over 4 hours to LA....
Miami is 4 hours to Orlando. You want to think all that progress I'm referring to is impossible, and I'm saying it isn't. It will be different because of your point of natural resources and whatnot, but it can and most likely will happen. Cost of living alone would make a lot of people move to Vegas.

1.5 hours to tampa, 2 hours to jacksonville, 4 hours to miami.

That's three large cities within 4 hours or Orlando... Sure it can happen, but it will cost LV trillions.

There are more people willing to invest trillions in Vegas, as evidenced by these two franchises (NHL, NFL) planning to move there, than people willing to invest millions in Orlando.

Trust me, I don't get it: it's the fukcing desert, but money talks.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, only because others have already invested tons of money into franchises in markets 2 hours away.

Exactly. I'm not discrediting Orlando, but not giving credit to Vegas as a viable up and coming market, starting with an influx of cash from major sports franchise, is short sighted.

Vegas should match $1 for every $10 the NFL throws in. Otherwise, they're being ripped off. Public funds are a terrible ROI

Speaking of stadiums, isn't it going to be weird in this new Vikings stadium when it's storming outside? It's completely see through so you'll have the rain and lightning but the game will be going on.
